Gyms in Colombo.

2016 is drawing to an end and some of us still haven't got that summer body we planned on getting back in 2011. The procrastinated war between abs and flabs never ended, so here is a list of gyms you can look into if "gotta get fit" is on your New Year resolution list for the 6th consecutive time.

The most pocket-friendly gym: Power World

Not only is this gym going easy on your wallet, it's also going really easy on the special gym treatment – there's no A/C. But you're paying less than Rs 6,500 for a year which is less than Rs 17 a day. So, you can't really complain.

Thus, the most budget-friendly and sweat-friendly award goes to Power World!

No money? Head to Ministry of Defence Kiosk

It's FREE. You WON'T have to spend your money. There is NO membership fee.

Located at Independence Square, this small gym is adequately equipped, convenient and is worth not paying a single cent for.

Where to go to if you like variation and company: GRIT

GRIT is a spot for crossfit. Their workouts vary everyday and you'll never workout alone. I've been to the GRIT twice, and from my experience, the people are motivating and workouts are changed on a daily basis.

The top two gyms: High Octane and OSMO Fitness

Colombo's gym scene is buzzing and brimming, but from the oasis of treadmill dwellings, these two gyms are of the most reliable gyms. While the membership rates are quite high, both gyms are very spacious, have several fitness programs, are equipped with good machinery and play host to equally good trainers.

Conclusion

While french fries need a spot in the next presidential election, getting fit is worth the pain and tasteless salads. Fill 2017 with abs, squats and gains (and some pizzas with a whole lot of cheese)!

But if gymming is not your thing, check out other alternatives in our post on How to Keep Fit in Colombo. Or else give up and go back to our KAMU section.
