The Nail Anatomy.

The Nail Anatomy is a nail salon on Reid Avenue, located inside Lakpahana, just opposite the Colombo Racecourse. They offer a highly professional service and can pretty much do anything with your nails.

DEAL: Nail Anatomy is running a promotion in which the first 10 callers (to 112 688 358) get a free 30 minute massage. Check it out:

The Service

This isn't Colombo's first nail bar, but I'll venture to say it's the best. The Nail Anatomy offers a service that's as good as the best nail bars I've been to in the great 'abroad' – ie, they have very high standards of hygiene, well trained technicians, an extensive range of colours and the latest in technology, all accompanied by great design and packaging.

They offer the usual services – manicure, pedicure, acrylic extensions, nail art – as well as a small range of spa treatments. You can choose from over 500 colours (mainly by O.P.I.) and they have some cool special effects nail polishes that deviate from the usual glossy finish to add texture to your nails, eg. leathery, furry, sandy. You can even get some Swarovski crystals whacked on – or a plastic Hello Kitty.

I'm stealing the tagline from Rocell, but anything you imagine can (probably) be replicated on your nails. The Nail Anatomy is in possession of a neat little piece of tech – a nail printer. That's probably not the technical term, but it's a contraption that can print any design or image from a photograph onto your nails – even your face. We haven't tried this yet, but it seems cool. It costs Rs. 350 per nail, so Rs. 3500 for a full set.

Nail Anatomy isn't cheap but they definitely do a significantly better job than the cheaper places. It isn't just about getting your nails done, but enjoying the experience of doing so. And in relation to the big salons, the prices are more or less similar.

I had both the Anatomicouture pedicure, manicure and french tips, with two technicians working on my nails and feet. They were polite, friendly and knowledgable and it was a relaxing experience with the happy outcome of nice looking (and feeling) nails and toes.

Conclusion

Overall, the Nail Anatomy is a very pleasant space to spend time in – it's calm and quiet, the chairs are comfy and, most importantly, you're in experienced, professional hands. The main sell for me here is the seemingly endless range of things they can do with your nails in terms of art and design. We highly recommend a visit. It's a cool place.
