Dushy’s (Good Market).

Dushy’s at the Good Market (Diyatha Uyana) is a small new stall that sells yummy organic health food. We tried out what they had, we left stuffed, and not feeling guilty for a change!

Food

We dropped by the Good Market last Thursday to see if any new and interesting stalls had come up, and for the most part it’s the same old, with the exception of a few. Dushy’s was one such stall which had just opened. They offer a range of super healthy salads, juices and waffles, all of it priced between Rs.200 – Rs.500.

Rainbow Salad

We tried the Grilled Vegetable Salad (Rs.400), Rainbow Salad (Rs.350), Whole wheat waffles with Mushrooms (Rs.350) and the Anodha Yoghurt (Rs.200) for dessert. Now I’m not the biggest fan of salads, but I must say that the ones we had at Dushy’s were exceptional. All of the ingredients were fresh, the dressings and sauces were all homemade, and the portion sizes were generous. Most importantly though, they tasted amazing.

Grilled Vegetable Salad

The Grilled Vege salad had Aubergines, Tomatoes, Zucchini, Capsicums and Onions, topped with grated cheddar cheese and one of the best Pesto dressings we’ve ever tasted. All the veges were grilled perfectly and had just right amount of seasoning. The Rainbow Salad was equally tasty, and it just looked really appetizing with the vibrant mix of colours of the veges. It had around 10 different vegetables with some corn kernels for added crunch.

Whole Wheat waffle with Mushrooms

They offer both Whole wheat and Kurakkan waffles. The Whole wheat was hardly any different from a normal waffle when it came to taste, and was served with a creamy mushroom stir fry, which had a nice mix of spices and herbs. The Kurakkan waffle was crispier and we could distinctly taste the Kurakkan. It’s served with a spicy shrimp curry, which may not be for everyone since it is quite daiya, but those of you who enjoy hot stuff will love this.

We’ve also got to mention the Anodha Yoghurt. It was probably one of the best natural yoghurt we’ve had. We didn’t know what to really expect ’cause Anodha isn’t one of the usual flavours you come across. After one spoon of it all our doubts were put to rest. It was creamy, light and refreshing, with the taste of the Anodha really coming through beautifully. So next time if you’re contemplating the usual smoothie, consider giving this a try for a change.

Conclusion

The Good Market is the only real place where people can go to find genuinely organic fresh produce, and it’s always great to see new stalls in the mix. Dushy’s doesn’t look to change much, but what they do offer is honest, uncompromised health food which taste quite amazing. They’ll be at the Good Market on Thursdays for the Next 3 weeks, so drop in and show them some support.
