Blush is a small clothing store in Bambalapitiya – it’s mostly party wear, imports from Hong Kong, Bangkok and Vietnam, and you can get some stuff here that you get in huge department stores but for smaller prices.
They’ve got a random selection of dresses – some quirky ones for a friend’s party, some casual wear and some long floral summer prints. They’re all in the Rs. 2000+ range which is decent considering dress prices in big showrooms. Don’t get thrown off by some of the tackier ones (sequins and all) at the back of the shop, this is one of those stores where you wade through it all and you find that one awesome piece hiding in a bunch of ordinaries…
…like these pale printed shorts for just Rs. 1490. They’ve also got a selection of coloured jeans for just Rs. 2000 which are hard to find unless you’re the adventurous Pettah type.
The shawls here are legitimately quality – they feel great and come in a range of pastel colours, for Rs. 1000.
They’ve got some pretty cool party jewellery, some of it imported from Korea. The blue ones above are for just Rs. 190. If you’re lucky you might come across a pair of awesome heels here in the Rs. 2000 range. The tshirts and bags are nothing to speak of though. There’s also a tiny shelf of random marshmallows and jujubes at the counter, because why not?
Conclusion
Blush is a cool place to stop by if you want a chance at finding something different to wear at a party and not just another Odel or No Limit production. You’ll have to cross your fingers and hunt for it among the randoms though, and the prices can surprise you, in a good way.
