Adams Décor.

Adams Décor is a place we stumbled upon that does wallpaper. The concept of wallpaper is foreign to me as a Sri Lankan, but if you have a bare white wall and you want to make it colorful, Adams Décor can help you out. It may not be common here, but that might be a good thing – it’s a novel way to vamp up your home decor.

The Place

Their showroom is located inside Interior Design Mall, down the ODEL road. It’s a nice spot at the back of the room, with a sofa, formal wallpaper and chandelier, like a little glimpse into a wallpapered living room. There’s also a shelf of catalogs you can browse through with a consultant.

The Stuff

There’s a lot of wallpaper to choose from, organized around themes. The Virtual Reality theme has photo-realistic images that appear in 3D, if you ever felt like living in a bamboo forest or want fake brick walls. Their Disney theme was adorable – with Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and the works – an awesome selection if you’re doing up a kid’s room.

Their Natural theme was also not that bad if you like trees and flowers on your walls. They have a selection of tasteful wallpaper in subtle themes too, like in their Haute Couture catalogue, which we can see would be popular in boutique hotels.

They distribute a lot of brands which we were told are important in the wallpaper world. All of it is imported, from Europe mostly. Their prices range from Rs. 80 to Rs. 450 per square foot, which is obviously way more expensive than painting your walls, but then this is specially printed, durable paper so we’re not that surprised.

Conclusion

Adams Décor doesn’t have a lot of competition in Sri Lanka – Arpico does wallpaper too, but we doubt that there are any other local places that specialize in it and offer such a wide variety of options. Thanks to Natalie in the comments who mentioned Delmege, Wallart and Cocoon, who also do wallpaper. That said, if you want a very unique, whimsical or super-classy look for your home or office, and price isn’t an issue, Adams Decor is a good place to go.
