Art of Living.

Art of Living is an awesome place to shop for home ware. It’s more like a one stop haven for all home decor needs.

The Shop

From first glance they seem like a small store with a meh collection. But the real booty you get if you go upstairs. Downstairs what they have mostly are bed linen, bath linen and lounge linen (meaning cushion covers and the likes). Upstairs you can get a whole bunch of stuff from paintings to a killer blender that can even blend your phone. (As we were told)

The Stuff

They have a wide selection of glassware, cutlery, cookware and utensils. Most of which are imported. Their collection of crystal from designer brand Lucaris was very elegant looking although this collection is comparatively more expensive than the others in store.

The killer blender (as I call it) is from a renowned company called blendtec. I even got a live demo of how you can stand on it and it won’t break. This is very expensive though compared with other conventional blenders but it comes with a 25 year warranty on the blade.

They’ve got a Porcelain collections from Rak and  Wilmax (England) for whom they are the sole distributors. I am not well versed when it comes to porcelain but I was told they are the best brands for porcelain.

There’s also a range of bed linen from flat & fitted sheets (Rs. 2,000+) to bedding products. Interesting fact about the sheets are you can get it tailor made to suit your needs. In addition there’s an extensive choice in lounge, table and bath linen.

Easy Payment

AOL offers installment payment for products over Rs. 10,000 for HNB, Amex, HSBC, Sampath and Seylan card holders for 3 – 6 months, which I think is a cool deal.

Bridal registry

They also offer a bridal registry service. Bridal registry means a service offered by a store where a bridal couple’s gift preferences are recorded and made available to family and friends when shopping at the store. First time I heard this in Sri Lanka and I think not many places offer this service.

Conclusion

AOL has a cool collection of home decor. They have stuff which would be ideal for both gifts or personal use. The shopping experience is very pleasant and would make you want to go there again. The staff are very friendly and they always make sure to help you out with your bags.
