Located down Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Himi Mawatha, at the top floor of Cafe Noir Blanc, Escape the Room (not to be confused with Escape Colombo) provides a live action based adventure experience.
How does it work?
So what simply happens is you get locked up in a room with your perspective team members, and you have to find your way to unlock the door. In order to do that, there's a series of puzzles and riddles that need to be solved, using different strategies, clues, and hints lying around the same room.
There's a theme behind every game room, and currently they have three of them; ‘Shipwrecked’, ‘Iron Throne’ and ‘Most Wanted: Dead or Alive’. You can choose the game according to your preference and skills.
We won't give away any more details on the game itself, because that'll just spoil the fun.
So what did you do?
Before we go in, the game master (a sweet lady in this case) described the background story, rules and the challange of the game, concluded by a small video clip that explained it further.
Once we were locked up in the room, the clock began counting down from 60 minutes. We scatterd around the room to examine every inch of it, and find clues.
You actually can ask for clues from the game master, if you have nothing much to go on. All you have to do is get in front of the TV screen in the room and wave your hands.
The whole space is observed by CCTV, and the game master will be providing you with clues through the monitor whenever needed.
What happens if we don't get out on time?
Well, nothing, really. It's really good if you managed to unlock the door before the time runs out, but even if it's not, still it's a fun, one of a kind experience. Plus, it enhances the bond between your teammates, so I'd say it's an excellent method to improve your team working skills.

The use of phones and recording devices inside the game room is strictly prohibited, but it's no issue as they provide you with a locker to keep your belongings, before you go in. I'd recommend you wear something comfortable, because there's no way of telling how you're gonna find the clues; standing, sitting, or even crawling. Also, proper communication among the team and being observant would save you a lot of time!
