Lakshani Super Caters.

Cloud kitchens are quite popular for their availability, and be it busy or just lazy, they are a good option to get your daily meal. Lakshani Super Caters are one such place in Nugegoda, where you can grab yourself an alright buth packet without too much hassle.

Food

Lakshani Super Caterers is located near Kirulopne, and you have the option to pick your meal up from their outlet or get it delivered through PickMe Food – which is what we did.

They have a few rice and curry items, and most of them are priced under Rs.200.

The Chicken Rice & Curry we ordered was priced at Rs.180. While the portion of the lunch packet seems quite adequate, we felt that curries are just not enough for the amount of rice there is. Accompanying the well-cooked white rice, there were three curries – chicken, long beans, kiri kos and also a gotukola mallum.

The long beans curry was more on the dry side, thus didn't carry much gravy, but, it had a good curry taste. The tempered potatoes on the other hand, had a good amount of spiciness, and not being overwhelmingly oily was a good sign. We liked the kiri kos curry. It was nicely cooked, not overly mushy, and boasted a good milky flavour.

The gotukola mallum seemed fresh but we wish we had more of it. The amount given was not even enough for a single bite. We were excited for the chicken, but sadly it lacked gravy – just a tough piece of batter-fried chicken. While all the elements of the meal seemed of good quality, they sorely lacked the quantity and having little to no gravy did not do any favours.

This is the Fish Rice & Curry (Rs. 170). It had the very same vegetable curries and the fish curry as the protein. The fish was, in fact, a nice surprise. Presenting a good peppery flavour, we enjoyed it very much.

The Prawn & Curry came in at Rs.220. It had four sizable prawns which were chewy and wrapped in a delightful cocktail of spices. This is the highlight of our entire meal.

Conclusion

While we didn't feel overwhelmed by joy or satisfaction, we did end up finishing our lunch packets as much as we can with the curries we got. All in all, it was your average rice and curry, nothing stood out. The portion sizes of the curries could be improved, but nonetheless, it was a decent meal.
