Palm Beach Inn & Sea Shells Cabanas.

Surrounded by the quaint and scenic ample greenery, Palm Beach Inn & Sea Shells Cabanas is a boutique hotel that makes for a good beach vacation destination.

It's quirky, beautiful and very private, and our stay here was pretty nice.

Accommodation

At the moment, this place is under renovation, but if you're lucky, you can grab a cabana or a room for a price between Rs. 4000 – 8000, thanks to all the sweet off-season deals that they offer through booking.com and agoda.com these days.

We stayed in one of their cabanas, which is designed for two adults. They have three cabanas like this within their premises, which come as two-storied houses. The ground floor has a bunch of wooden chairs and tables where you can sit and chill like you do at home, while the upper floor is where your room is located at.

On to your right, there's a staircase, which would take you to the upper floor. There's a tiny balcony adjoining the room, which is ideal if you want to catch a glimpse of the glorious Bentota sunsets or have a chat while enjoying a little bit of sea breeze.

If that's not enough, you can simply access the Bentota beach, which is just a 2-minute walk away from this place. All you have to do is go through the backyard, jump across the rail tracks carefully, enter to the beach path, and walk.

Our room wasn't all bad but looked pretty ordinary, and certainly could have improved. Came with a king-sized, comfortable bed, the room was properly air-conditioned and had a dressing table, a couple of chairs, a flat-screen TV with a satellite connection and an open-cupboard to keep your belongings. The bottom shelves of the cupboard were already occupied with water bottles, hairdryer, kettle, teacups, and a mini-fridge.

The bathroom was nothing fancy – clean and spotless, with toiletries, but didn't have towels or linens as advertised.

Service

The service was alright. Upon our arrival, they immediately showed us to our cabana. You can even get recommendations from them on how to get around Bentota to gain the best out of your vacation while you're there.

Conclusion

The atmosphere at Palm Beach Inn & Sea Shells Cabanas is absolutely peaceful, except for the occasional bird noises and the sound of the trains pass by. While there's plenty of room for improvement in their accommodation facilities (which we think that they're working on with the whole renovations going on), it's a good option if you want to spend a vacation, away from all the hustle and bustle in the city.
