Eden Blue.

Eden Blue is a budget B&B in Hikkaduwa, which has been around for a couple of years. If you're looking for a homely place to crash for the night, this is an alright option.

Accommodation

They have five types of rooms – Economy Double, Superior, Double, Deluxe Double and Queen, spread throughout four floors. The pricing of the room varies from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 7000 – depending on the season and timings.

We stayed in one of their Deluxe Double rooms, which was priced at $15 (around Rs. 2730) thanks to an off-peak deal we grabbed off agoda.com

Came with a king-sized, super comfortable bed, covered with bed curtains, the room also featured a dresser and a clothing rack. The fan in our room doesn't seem to be working, and the air conditioning, on the other hand, kept going on and off all throughout the night and the following morning.

Given that it was a rainy day, we weren't quite bothered by it, but if it wasn't for that, tolerating the heat would have been a problem.
The bathroom was clean and spotless, but unfortunately, wasn't well-appointed. There were a trash can and a toilet paper roll, but we had to bring soap on our own from outside.

There was this sink in the corner of the room along with a few power outlets on the wall. We assume that this is where they suppose to keep the electric kettle and kitchenware that they promise under the description of Deluxe Double Room on agoda.com and booking.com.

Breakfast

The dining area is on the 3rd floor of the building.

With enough natural light and breeze seeping through, it's a quite nice space to start your day at.

The breakfast spread here is simple and light. A few slices of toasted bread, accompanied with jam, butter and a pot of tea and/or coffee.

And also this plate of freshly cut fruits – watermelon, papaya, pineapple and banana.

Service

The person who manages the property lives nearby, and around most of the times. And when he's not, he's only one call away. At the reception desk, he has displayed the important phone numbers that the guests would need, including details about taxi services.

Conclusion

The Galle Road and everything it has to offer, and the gorgeous coastline of Narigama are at a convenient distance (less than 1km) to Eden Blue, so there's plenty to explore.

They seem to be adding more touch-ups to the rooms, so they can serve better in the near future. But as of now, this is a pocket-friendly option for vacationing in Hikka.
