The Fuel Hub Cafe.

The Fuel Hub Cafe is semi health food bistro and bakery in Mount Lavinia, which we'd happily recommend as one of the top picks for food and cosy vibes in the area. They're located down Hotel road, right in front of St. Thomas College.

Food

The food menu at The Fuel Hub Cafe has a selection of burgers, sandwiches, grilled goodies, pastas, salads and rice bowls, as well as a few entrees, desserts and sides.

We started off our meal with a plate of Grilled Chicken Skewers (Rs. 700). In here, you get six chicken skewers, a side salad and a helping of peanut sauce.

The chicken skewers had a good flavour, a juicy inside, and a well-grilled outside. They had used fresh veggies to the salad, which produced a wonderful crunch, and the peanut sauce was peanutty as promised. What a way to kickstart a meal!
The Fish & Chips (Rs. 1100) was beautifully golden fried, had the crispiest coating and we didn't spot or taste any oiliness in its texture. Succulent and fresh, the fish itself had a wonderful quality of breaking off to chunks so effortlessly. The accompanying tartar sauce was creamy, and complemented the fish with a lovely tangy kick. This is the FHC Special Beef Burger (Rs. 1400). A tower of two beef patties, gooey cheddar, chicken bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato.

The bun was of good quality, that managed to keep its structure well without falling apart, or getting sogged up. With the perfect amount of seasoning to boot, the beef patties were well-grounded, incredibly juicy, and had just the right touch from the grill. The chicken bacon added a wave of smokiness to the taste, while the veggies were fresh and crunchy.

Dusted with salt, the hand-cut fries were nicely crispy and delicious.

We grabbed a slice of their Passion fruit Roulade (Rs. 350) to end our meal. Light, soft and spongy, it had an adequate slathering of cream, and a good dose of passion fruit flesh, creating that perfect sweet, sour balance.

Drinks

In terms of drinks, The Fuel Hub Cafe serves up coffee (hot and cold), smoothies and juices.

The Iced Cappuccino (Rs. 375) had bold notes of coffee popping through its velvety layers of milk. Definitely something to beat a hot day in Colombo.

This Magic Mango is pure Karthakolomban bliss, mixed in with a splash of milk. Hella refreshing, absolutely filling and quite delish.

Ambience & Service

The calm and peaceful atmosphere at The Fuel Hub Cafe comes in handy if you want to get some work done while enjoying a meal. It's managed by a friendly bunch of guys, who would make you feel welcome.

Conclusion

It's all about great food, fantastic drinks and soothing vibes. Our experience at The Fuel Hub Cafe was full of them, and we're absolutely sure that yours would too!
