A Breezy Lunch At The Boardwalk.

Boardwalk is defined to be “A walk into a beautiful open air casual dining space”. Spotted on the deck around the Diyatha Oya or most famously, located around Diyatha Uyana.

The ambience of Boardwalk by Waters Edge is purely constructed to enjoy boat rides, shopping at the Diyatha Market, and a calming walk or jog in the day. By night, the spot is happening with live music, match nights, eventful dinners and casual family occasions. There’s a spacious setting arranged outside with tents and cement benches, perfect for a view at the lake or for the gang wanting to watch game night. The interior is spacious KT constructed with wooden dining settings, built for comfort and relaxation.

We were able to dine-in for a casual lunch experience with one signature dish and 8 other delectables from their tabloid menu.

1. Pork Knuckle ( Signature Dish)

As a signature dish, the pork knuckle presents itself in the most appealing structure. Laid on a chunk of seasoned mashed potato and served with a side of Sauerkraut. The meat was soft, unrecognizably pork and tender to be eaten with cutlery. The pork is deep fried in biscuit crumbs and cut-served with a half opening, so that the guests can visibly take their slice of meat smoking through the middle. Overall this is an excellent gourmet dish to try out and could be shared between 4 people. If you are a meaty foodie, 2 can enjoy this meal wholeheartedly.

2. Hot Butter Cuttlefish

Best to entertain this appetizer with beers. The flavor is prepared at its basic and seasoned well with spice. The dish is garnished and served with sautéed onions, red chilis, and spring onions.

You can enjoy this dish when it’s served hot with liquor or beer on a night at Boardwalk.

3. Chicken Winglets

The flavors of the winglets did not bring out much spiciness, yet it had a saucy touch of chili and honey stickiness. The wings would’ve brought out more flavor if there was a twist in the spice, (a Cajun flavor) would attract guests who would love to enjoy a drink with some hot and spicy wings.

4. Tandoori Chicken Melt

The wrap grabbed hearts with its lightly grilled roti filled with a succulent, masala based Tandoori chicken curry. The filling melted in the mouth and was delectable to perfection for a quick snack or single portion meal. Even though the curry is designed to be dry, there was a burst of flavor and tender texture of the chicken with an amicable saucy mix of the Tandoori filling.

The wrap is served with a tomato ketchup dip and a portion of thick cut fries.

5. Beef Burger

The hot melt of cheese layered on the beef patty wins flavor in this burger. The beef patty is well done, grilled with seasoning and prepared with a side of thick cut fries and served with ketchup.

Overall, the burger is moderate in taste and can be enjoyed with a mojito available at the Boardwalk bar.

6. Fish & Chips

This delicacy from the mains is garnished and flavored evenly with a light battered white fish. They generally serve the Moda Fish, but the white fish too brings out a tender meaty scrumptious flavor. Served with a dip of Tartar sauce, ketchup and a slice of lime to enable the citrus taste of the fish.

Overall, the fish and chips has a win in terms of presentation, texture, delicacy, freshness and tenderness. Perfect to enjoy the meal over a view of the lake surrounding Boardwalk.

7. Mongolian Fried Rice

A blend of soy sauce and a dash of red chili spiciness emitted a moderate spiced flavor from their Mongolian Fried Rice dish. We best enjoyed it with the hot butter cuttlefish and the chili paste served on the side.

The dish would’ve suited flavor enhancement if a bullseye or a double sided fried egg was added to the rice. Overall, the Mongolian Fried Rice made a decent breakthrough for lunch!

8. Banana Split

A simple dessert served with banana, three scoops of ice cream flavored with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. The boat dish is garnished with a moderate portion of cashew nuts.

The dessert is simple yet served at a decent and filling portion per person. Best enjoyed on a hot day around the summer vibes at Boardwalk.
