The iconic star-class luxury hotel, Ramada Colombo, is owned by the American multinational-World’s largest hotel franchise, Wyndham Hotels, and Resorts. Ramada, initiated under Alhambra Hotels, marks 49 years of delivering rich and spectacular experiences to guests worldwide on 21st March 2023.
Ramada Colombo has a long and illustrious history that dates back to 1964 when Mr. Jabir A. Cader acquired the land on which it stands. A prominent businessman and former Mayor of Colombo, Mr. Cader originally intended to construct a modern Cinema but instead capitalized on the ‘Tourism Development Act’ introduced by the late Hon. Mr. J.R. Jayawardena. In 1974, the Holiday Inn group granted Mr. Cader a franchise, which marked the launch of the second international hotel chain in Sri Lanka. Fast-forward to 2009, Alhambra Hotels rebranded with Wyndham Hotels, solidifying its place as one of the most sought-after hotels in Colombo. In this same year, the hotel, now backed by a strong global brand, opened the Alhambra restaurant, one of the first specialty North Indian restaurants in the city. To this day, it continues to offer a flavorful range of delicious Mogul cuisine.
Today Ramada by Wyndham Colombo continues to strive for excellence and provides its guests with a wealth of modern facilities with luxurious rooms and suites, an outdoor pool, a Balinese Spa, a fully equipped gymnasium, a business center catering to both business and leisure travelers alike.
