Every month, Cinnamon Red has come up with an exciting initiative to conduct a cultural day incorporating cultures from different parts of the world.
This creative concept initiated by Cinnamon Red shows that Cinnamon hotels warmly welcome all nations to experience Sri Lanka and for the locals to enjoy a delicious encounter with different foods from different geographical aspects of the world.
For the month of May, Mexico is the chosen country that will display over 20 Mexican dishes on their buffet. The public is invited to make reservations to experience a culturally rich Mexican ambience at the Flavored Restaurant, located on the 8th floor at Cinnamon Red Colombo.
We were invited to try out their signature highlights of the dishes that will be available to serve your palate on May 31, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. On this day, you can experience not only delicious Mexican cuisine but also Mexican entertainment and a flourishing culture hosted by the staff at Flavored.
Appetizers
- Black Bean Soup
An incredible start to a light course with bread and butter served, the black bean soup does justice to give an exquisite impression of the Mexican meal that’s about to hit the table. The soup incorporated a soft flavor of onions, coriander, and black kidney beans.
- Homemade Tuna Tacos
We were served the classic crunchy taco shells, filled with a delicious cold tuna salad with a salsa mix of avo and Greek yogurt. This is a must-try appetizer if you want to try out typical Mexican snacks at the buffet!
- Chicken Fajitas
The chicken fajitas will suit your taste buds if you are not a spice fan. The flavors were mild and delicate, which did not typically cater to Mexican cuisine, yet they were delicious in their own style. This could be your meat option for appetizers after the seafood tacos.
Main Course
- Mexican Beef Picadillo
The beef picadillo is a sprain that originated in Mexico but eventually became Mexico’s staple for meat and flavor. The burst of well-ground minced meat was folded in a range of aromatic spices that will blend well with a like and cilantro rice. This is a combination you can check out at the buffet!
- Mexican Corn Rice
A simple yet sophisticated main dish that Mexicans value for a large gathering The Mexican corn rice was scrumptious and flavored to perfection. The rice is all about bringing in a cultural aspect of Mexico through its incredible smell and pleasant colors. Perfect to enjoy the dish by itself, or even with the picadillo, if you make that kind of palatable choice!
Desserts
- Tres Leches
We all know how a slice of Tres Leches can win your heart pretty quickly. Flavored has done an excellent job by staying true to the flavors of the desert and keeping the desert milky, soft, and not over-sweetened. A must try to wash down the savory on this occasion.
- ChocoFlan
The ChocoFlan makes history on the classic flan innovation list. The desert was creamy and subtle with chocolate, not overdone. The desserts in the Mexican range are perfect for even a non-sweet tooth to try them out.
