Chinwag has always been a crowd favorite, and now with their new location, the whole experience feels uplifting. The moment we walked in, we noticed how warm and welcoming the ambience was. The café is small, but it’s designed in such a way that it feels cozy rather than cramped. With dim lighting, cute little table décor, and an overall homely vibe, it’s definitely the kind of place you’d want to spend time with friends or even just by yourself. The staff also deserve a special mention. They were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, which made the visit even more enjoyable.

Lime Crush

We decided to start light, so the first thing we ordered was the Lime Crush. And honestly, this drink was such a win from the very first sip. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too sour and so refreshing. You know that feeling when a drink just hits the spot and makes you feel instantly awake? That’s exactly what this did. It set the perfect tone for the meal ahead, and I’d honestly go back just for this alone.
Gurkha Chicken Momos

Next came the Gurkha Chicken Momos (LKR 1900 for 6 pcs). If you love spice, this one’s for you. These dumplings didn’t hold back; they were fiery and packed with flavor. Each bite gave that satisfying kick that keeps you reaching for the next one. The portion size was just right, and for the price, we thought it was fair considering how flavorful they were. Easily one of our favorites of the day!
Turkish Mutton Dumplings

Then came something a little unexpected, the Turkish Mutton Dumplings (LKR 2400 for 6 pcs). When we bit into these, the taste immediately reminded us of pasta with tomato sauce. It was such a unique twist for a dumpling! The flavor leaned more towards the sweet side, which made it really different compared to the spicy Gurkha momos. So if you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy too much spice and prefers a milder, sweeter profile, these dumplings would be perfect for you.
Fried Cheese & Chilli Wontons

One dish we’ve loved for months at Chinwag is the Fried Cheese & Chilli Wontons (LKR 1400 for 6 pcs), and we just had to try them again. These did not disappoint. The crunch of the wonton skin paired with the gooey cheese inside and that little spicy kick it’s honestly addictive. And when you dip it in the sauce? Next level good. This is one of those dishes you’ll find yourself craving later and coming back for. Definitely worth the hype.
Chinwag Rice

For mains, we went with the Chinwag Rice (LKR 3000). They mentioned it was meant for two people, but honestly, the portion was more than enough for 2–3. It came loaded with a mix of ingredients, making every bite flavorful. What we loved most was how well it paired with the rest of the dishes it didn’t overpower, but rather complemented everything. For the price and the portion size, this dish felt like such a good deal and this easily became one of our favorites here.
Brownies & Ice Cream

Of course, no meal is complete without dessert, so we wrapped things up with the classic Brownies and Ice Cream (LKR 800). This was one of the highlights of the meal. The brownie was warm and fudgy, and when paired with the cold vanilla ice cream, it was the perfect balance. You know that feeling when you’re already full but dessert just makes room for itself? That’s exactly what happened here. We didn’t regret it one bit it was the best way to end the night.

Overall, Chinwag’s new spot really impressed us. From the cozy ambience and kind staff to the wide variety of food, everything came together beautifully. While their dumplings are what they’re best known for (and rightfully so), the other dishes stood out just as much.
And if you’re planning a small get-together with friends or loved ones, Chinwag has a private, cozy room that’s perfect for gatherings. It’s intimate, warm, and gives you that extra bit of privacy while still enjoying all the great food they have to offer. Whether you’re looking to chill, catch up, or celebrate, this spot is definitely one worth visiting.
