Brunch at ITC Ratnadipa – Review.

By Ranugi Thihansa

If you’re looking for a Sunday brunch that brings together incredible food, live music, and a stunning seaside view, the Brunch Buffet at the Indian Ocean Pavilion, ITC Ratnadipa is one you shouldn’t miss. With cuisines from around the world and an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and luxurious, this buffet really delivers a global dining experience.

The brunch starts off beautifully with a welcome drink served right as you arrive, an elegant touch that sets the tone for what’s to come. The layout is spacious and inviting, overlooking the beach, with each section offering something unique. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this isn’t just another hotel buffet, it’s a proper Sunday feast.

Live Action Stations, Everywhere

One of the biggest highlights here is the live action stations. There’s always something sizzling or being tossed up fresh in front of you. The tempura station keeps things light and crispy, while the poori station serves up perfectly puffed pooris with flavorful fillings. The pasta station is another favorite, where chefs prepare your dish just how you like it.

And then there was the live Tom Kha soup station; a creamy, aromatic Thai soup that was an absolute standout. Rich, fragrant, and bursting with flavor, it was easily one of the best parts of the meal.

A Truly International Spread

This is an international buffet through and through. There’s Indian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Sri Lankan, Italian, Chinese and Arabic cuisine, all done with care and authenticity.

From fresh sushi and delicate dumplings to perfectly grilled meats like chicken, beef, and lamb, there was plenty to please every palate. The seafood section also deserves a mention. Prawns, fish, crab, oysters and other fresh catches cooked just right.

The Indian selection stood out for its bold flavors and comforting appeal, featuring rich curries, biryanis, and freshly made rotis. The inclusion of ratatouille added a touch of French flair, proving that the buffet isn’t afraid to mix things up in the best way possible.

Desserts Galore

The dessert spread was nothing short of impressive. From rich Indian sweets to classic cakes, mousses, ice cream and fresh fruits, there was something for every kind of sweet tooth. The variety was truly impressive and everything tasted fresh and indulgent, the perfect way to wrap up the meal.

The Atmosphere

What really completes the experience is the live music. The band created such a warm, cheerful atmosphere that matched the ocean breeze perfectly. Combined with the beach view, the whole brunch felt effortlessly elegant. A wonderful spot to unwind, enjoy good food, and spend time with family or friends.

All in all, the Brunch Buffet at ITC Ratnadipa’s Indian Ocean Pavilion is the kind of experience you’ll want to relive. With its diverse range of cuisines, interactive live stations, great music, and scenic setting, it’s easily one of Colombo’s most enjoyable brunches.
