KFC’s has new burgers in stock for the ‘International Zinger Festival’, available till May 24th, so we tried them out, with Batman and friends. We called them up on 0115 532 532 and placed our order and the burgers were delivered about an hour later.
The Festival poster advertises the Classic burger, which is the ordinary KFC Zinger burger, alongside new ones: Cheesy, Spicy and Tom Yum. Each burger costs Rs. 390.
Batman and the Joker mustered up all their life’s training to face these burgers, though nothing could truly prepare them for what was to come.
Tom Yum
First up: the Tom Yum burger. As you’ll see from our pictures, all the burgers pretty much look the same – fat chunks of batter fried chicken, lettuce and mayo. This was a relatively interesting burger and stood out the most from the lot. Indi says he tasted lemongrass but I think that’s pushing it a bit – it was spicy and sour like Tom Yum is though, but a heavily MSG-ed up version. Tastes weird at first, but it grows on you.
Cheesy And Spicy
The Cheesy and Spicy burgers looked similar as well. Batman was not a fan of his Cheesy burger, it was more spicy, while the Spicy burger was more cheesy (maybe they mixed the two up?).
Assuming that they did mix them up, the Spicy was sweet and had a lot of sauce with spice that built up. The Cheesy had the artificial cheese basically infused throughout. Anyway, these two burgers were a bit underwhelming, but still okay as far as fast food burgers go.
Classic
We then force-fed the Classic Zinger burger to an unhappy looking Scarecrow. I personally prefer the Zinger burger to the other stuff, it tastes better, while the others felt like extra flavours were unnecessarily added to an already sufficient chicken-mayo-overdose. Still if you really want to try one of the new ones, Tom Yum is unusual, interesting and crunchier.
Well, our superheroes and supervillains barely survived the new KFC assault. Like getting drunk, eating this much fast food feels like a very tasty idea at the time till you wake up hours later feeling a bit gross. The new ‘International’ burgers are not dramatically different to the usual KFC fare, they’re alright, and for Rs. 390 they do the job if you want more comfort food to gorge on.
