Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort Hosts Traditional Cake Mixing
Christmas arrived early on the southern coast as the lobby of Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort transformed into a cheerful corner of the North Pole, bringing together the resort’s culinary team, leadership, associates, and in-house guests for its annual Christmas Cake Mixing ceremony.
The occasion began with the spirited sound of bagpipes as the Executive Chef Prasanna Wimalasundera, followed by his team of culinary champions and the Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort Leadership Team, led by General Manager Mano Gunasekera, made their way into the lobby, setting the tone for an evening of merriment and tradition.
Adding to the anticipation, the ingredients for the Christmas cake were presented in charming wooden barrels and boxes before being carried into the heart of the gathering. The entire team poured the carefully prepared ingredients into a large mixing barrel, marking the official beginning of the cake-making tradition.
Guests were invited to roll up their sleeves and become part of the time-honored ritual. Festive aprons and Christmas hats were handed out, transforming spectators into enthusiastic participants as they joined the team in mixing the generous combination of fruits, nuts, spices and other ingredients that will eventually become the resort’s Christmas cake.
The sounds of Christmas filled the lobby as a saxophonist performed familiar seasonal melodies, while the rich aromas of fruits and spices added another layer to the experience. The combination of music, laughter and the scents of the season created a wonderfully convivial setting.
For the resort’s in-house guests, the occasion offered an opportunity to experience a much-loved Christmas tradition first-hand. Guests enthusiastically joined the mixing, capturing photographs and sharing in the joyful occasion with the resort team.
The evening was complemented by a selection of champagne, wine and signature cocktails, accompanied by an array of Christmas cookies, mince pies and savory canapés, creating the perfect pairing for a festive indulgence.
