The forgotten history of Sri Lanka retold in unique pictorial calendar.

A unique calendar with a pictorial depiction of Sri Lanka’s rich history under the theme ‘Pride of a nation’ has been introduced as DIMO’s corporate calendar for the year 2022.

Bringing the forgotten stories to life and rekindling memories of the past in an inspiring manner, the objective of the calendar is to educate the younger generation and reawaken the love of the ancient history of Sri Lanka, amongst all.

The specialty of DIMO’s corporate calendar is the pictorial recreation of some of Sri Lanka’s most historic and significant achievements which makes it the proud nation that it is today.

From King Kashyapa who ruled Sri Lanka from 473 to 495 CE to the Sigiriya Lion Gate which is a gateway in the form of an enormous lion at the Sigiriya Rock, the Mahathota (Ma-Thota) which is named after a natural port in Mannar, King Mahasen of Anuradhapura who ruled Sri Lanka from 277 to 304 AD and the Construction of Weva which represents the Grand Irrigation Works of Sri Lanka are depicted in the calendar.

King Parakramabahu I who was the sole king of Dakkhinadesa by c.1140 and the Naval Force (Seafaring in Ancient Sri Lanka) and Mathula Alu Lena – writing of the Tripitaka (Scholarly Work), are also among the many other historical and significant achievements of Sri Lanka that are shown in DIMO’s corporate calendar.

The illustrator is non-other than leading Sri Lankan artist Prasanna Weerakkody who has joined DIMO for the second consecutive year to produce the company’s corporate calendar. Weerakkody, who was raised in a background rich in art and Sinhala cultural experiences, is renowned for his specialization in the reconstructions of early Sri Lankan history, lifestyles, and warriors. His unique pictorial depiction presents DIMO’s corporate calendar as a visual and educational gateway into the ancient and vibrant history of Sri Lanka.

Sarva Colombo has been creating DIMO’s corporate calendar for the past eleven consecutive years, making it the most informative, visually attractive and anticipated calendar in Sri Lanka at present.

This beautifully scripted video further explains the story behind this invaluable concept.
