Cinnamon Life Brings Authentic Korean Cuisine to Colombo with “A Taste of Korea”.

By Sharon Nonis,

Cinnamon Life recently hosted “A Taste of Korea,” a spectacular dinner buffet celebrating the rich and diverse flavours of Korean cuisine. Guests had the chance to enjoy bold, comforting dishes made by the renowned Korean chef Choi Jae-Hyun, bringing an authentic taste of Korea right to Colombo.

Bread & Salad Corner

As guests arrived, they were greeted by a welcoming bread corner with freshly baked rolls and buns, the perfect way to kick off the evening. Next came a colorful salad station, full of crisp greens, fresh veggies, and plenty of dressings so everyone could build their own perfect salad. The seafood corner was another crowd-pleaser, featuring everything from prawns and oysters to beautifully grilled fish, sure to delight any seafood lover.

Global Flavours Under One Roof

Cinnamon Life has really made a name for itself by bringing a wide range of flavours from around the world all under one roof. The Italian section featured classics like creamy risotto, and crispy, wood-fired pizzas topped with fresh ingredients. Sri Lankan dishes brought bold, familiar flavors with spicy chicken curry, fragrant yellow rice, and crunchy sambols that capture the island’s unique taste.

The Indian corner was a favorite, offering biriyani packed with spices, alongside creamy butter chicken, tangy masala dals, and soft naan breads. Over at the Japanese station, guests enjoyed beautifully crafted sushi rolls, delicate sashimi, and comforting bowls of miso soup.

At the heart of the event was Chef Choi Jae-Hyun, a culinary expert renowned for his expertise in traditional and contemporary Korean cuisine. His menu for the night featured a wide range of Korean staples.

With “A Taste of Korea,” Cinnamon Life introduced a fresh and exciting experience. Guests got to try Korean classics like tender bulgogi beef, spicy and chewy tteokbokki, bibimbap bowls, savoury glass noodles known as japchae, and warming kimchi jjigae stew. The event brought together these bold, comforting flavours and unique textures, creating a mini world tour of tastes right here in Colombo.

Chef Choi’s meticulous preparation and storytelling transformed the buffet into a cultural experience, offering diners more than just a taste they received a glimpse into the heart of Korean hospitality and culinary tradition.

The Dessert Corner

The dessert spread was amazing, with so many different options to choose from. There were traditional Korean sweets that were light and unique, along with classic English favorites like creamy cheesecake and soft sponge cakes. For ice cream lovers, there were lots of flavours from vanilla and chocolate to some more interesting choices. There were also plenty of chocolates to enjoy, plus fresh fruits to keep things light and refreshing. No matter what kind of sweet tooth you have, there was something for everyone to end the meal.

A Multisensory Experience

The ambience at Cinnamon Life was thoughtfully curated to complement the Korean culinary journey. From warm, welcoming decor touches to live cooking stations and interactive food counters, the event encouraged guests to engage with the food and chefs in meaningful ways.

“A Taste of Korea” is part of Cinnamon Life’s broader vision to introduce world cultures to Colombo through food, events, and experiences. By collaborating with international chefs and curating culturally rich events, Cinnamon Life continues to set the benchmark for experiential dining in Sri Lanka.
