“Delightful Vegan Feast: Savor the Flavors of Compassion and Health”.

Indulge in an expertly crafted meal featuring an amazing array of fresh healthy and delicious dishes full of natural goodness at the very special vegan lunch buffet hosted by the Mount Lavinia Hotel every Poya day of the month. The hotel transforms its main dining venue into a sought-after vegan restaurant overlooking the breathtakingly beautiful Indian Ocean.

The buffet is a spread of colorful plant-based food items that are fresh, undoubtedly healthy, and full of good nutrition. Meat, eggs, and dairy were excellently replaced by planted-based alternatives.

Passion fruit shooter, Rath mal shooter, Nil Katarolu shooter, Orange and Mango shooter, Dandila Ala Lunumiris and Grated Coconut, Beetroot Pancake with Mango and Apple.

The inventive plant-based sushi corner was a definite hit among the guests who dined in, and the vividly colorful Passion Fruit, Rath Mal, Nil Katarolu, and Orange and Mint shooters are a must-have among the starters.

A special mention on the wildly flavorful twist they have spun on local authentic ingredients such as Dandila ala – a highly nutritious purple yam that most Sri Lankans are not familiar with.

Soup of the day- Dandila Ala in Coconut Cream

Spinach, beetroot, and carrot-flavored hopper action station

The die-hard Hopper fans were not left disappointed but taken by full surprise to see their favorite in three variations.

Nil katarolu rice, kurakkan with vegetables, kiri kos curry, kalu pol kos ata and aguna kola mallum

We were blown away by their take on the Sri Lankan rice and curry. As rightfully reminded by Sajith and Thahani Perera a couple who have been patronizing the Poya Vegan lunch buffet for years now, it is very easy to be vegan in Sri Lanka with the abundance of legumes, fruits vegetables nuts, and seeds available in this tropical island.

Home-made fresh Tagliatelle(Spinach) with Coriander Pesto

Date cake, Nut cake, Carrot cake, Beli Crumble, Lemon Drizzle, Semolina pudding, and Chocolate Pudding.

The dessert section was an assortment of fruits, crumbles, cakes, and puddings all made with plant-based alternatives to the usual ingredients which tasted just as good as it would do otherwise.

The Poya vegan lunch buffet is the first to have initiated a  vegan buffet to cater to a growing group of health and environment-conscious people. While it is still a growing concept in Sri Lanka we would highly recommend it as an ideal way to spend your next Poya day!
