Ella Relax Inn.

Ella is known for its amazing views, delicious food, affordable accommodation and warm hospitality. Combining all these four elements in the finest way possible, Ella Relax Inn will make sure that your next trip to Ella is well worth it.
 
Located just 3km away from the Ella Railway Station, it's a simple, old family home flipped into a holiday house. 

Accommodation

They've got only two rooms here. You can either opt for a single room or reserve the place as a whole, especially if you're looking at a family getaway. Clocking in at Rs. 3263 (inclusive of breakfast) on booking.com, the Double Deluxe room we stayed at was equipped with a cosy, king-size bed, comfortable pillows, a mosquito net, a stand fan, a cupboard to keep our belongings, a small table, and a cloth rack. The mud-thatched wall adds a bit of a vintage vibe to the room and the assortment of furniture here is totally on par with it. 

The attached bathroom was spacious, clean and appointed with towels, toiletries and modern bathware. 

Food & Drinks

Upon our arrival, we were treated to a lovely refreshment session comprised of home-made rice aggala, sour plantains and mixed fruit cordial. Infused with some high-quality kithul treacle, the aggalas were excellently prepared; perfectly shaped, sticky but not overly so, with just the right amount of sweetness. 
The effort they had put to whip up our breakfast was simply impressive as well. There were egg hoppers, plain hoppers, pol sambol, kithul treacle, freshly cut banana, and papaw accompanied with tea.  
Fluffy in the middle and crispy at the edges, the hoppers were cooked with a dose of motherly love. With a splash of kithul treacle on top of them, you're in for a treat.

If you prefer something on the spicy and sour side, make good use of the pol sambol.

The fruits come from their backyard, which explains how fresh they are. 

Ambience & Service

The ambience here is super homely; we instantly fell in love with it. It's an old house, which seems to be built around in the early 90s, and later modernised. We couldn't help but notice how it reminded us of that relative's house in the village, that you visit during the school holidays.

They've got a nice sitting room furnished with two incredible comfy sofas, which can be used by all the guests. The dining space is a part of the sitting room; that's where they serve all your meals at. There's a kitchen in the back, which you can make use of, if you prefer to cook something in between these meals. 

The homely vibe of this place was further enhanced by the absolutely friendly host, Amila. Warmly welcoming and incredibly helpful with settling in and meals, he did not hesitate to give out some tips to get the best out of our trip to Ella. Trust me, you're not going to feel like a stranger here. 

Conclusion

From accommodation and ambience to food and service, our experience at Ella Relax Inn gets full points from us. And the fact they offer all that under Rs. 3500 is simply mind-blowing. We highly recommend.
