Ice Cream that you can find nowhere else!.

By Shamrina Carim

Started up as a small business in the year 2020 with 20 flavors, which was exclusively more than normal ice cream varieties that are available in the Sri Lankan dairy market. Later the owners successfully built up their business from Moratuwa to the trade market at Narahenpita with 35 flavors. Akinra grew to prosper their market expansion island wide in destinations such as Kalutara, Dickwella, Ratnapura, Bibile, Madakalapuwa, Wennappuwa, Madiwela, and Thalawathugoda. You can definitely try out their exciting flavors in your trip to any of these locations!

Today, Akinra sells large volumes daily, ranging from 60 plus flavors! What’s exciting about their ice cream

variety is the unique collection of fruits and even vegetable flavors prepared without any permitted flavor additives. Customers are excited to try their seasonal fruit flavors such as Kirala, soursop, jackfruit and vegetable choices such as the Spicy kochchi, tomato and carrot flavor. It doesn’t just end there. There’s just more to their creamy sweet diced flavors!

We were hyped by the Kochchi flavor which gave a sweet hit on the taste buds and a spiced burning sensation down the line. The flavors keep getting exciting when you keep taking each scoop. The next incredibly creamy Jackfruit ice cream won our heart over. You could call this the next Willie Wonka wonderland. Also, if you are lactose intolerant, Akinra serves Goat dairy with a decent dressing of your choice!

The flavors don’t just stick to a uniform taste other than the consistency of ice cream texture and the promise of home made preparation and the ability of the ice cream to remain frozen even in warm temperatures.

What we enjoyed:

We were given one of their mesmerizing ice cream platters, where you are free to choose any 6 kinds of flavors of your preference and taste.

  1. Very Berry

A mix of blueberry and raspberry blended to perfection with surprising traces of berries in every bite of the scoop served.

  1. Rum and Raisins

A concoction of light rum and raisins traced along the vanilla ice cream based for a soft serve.

  1. King Coconut

Perfect for sugar dialects and who have restrictions to experiencing strong sweet tooth sensation.

  1. Waraka (Jackfruit)

Creamy and existential for a perfect seasonal fruit tasting.

  1. Rocky Road

The exciting flavors tried out during our childhood. This ice cream cafe is designated for children, family and friends and all audiences to experience happy ice cream moments.

  1. Avocado

Gracefully blended avocado and milk just the way you would prepare your milkshake at home.

They sell their ice creams in 250 ml, 500 ml, and 1 litre tubs for takeaway or delivery. For dine in they serve in waffle cones and waffle tubs. Additionally, they take the extra mile in their humble service by catering creativity with their ice cream servings with Bombai mutai or jelly! And did you know that their ice cream has NO ARTIFICIAL FLAVOURS at all? They are filled homemade goodness!

Try them out! You can’t just regret visiting this place or their outlets island wide.
