It's been a while since we've had some good doughnuts. The last memorable one we had was from Brown Sugar. In fact, it was a bouquet of doughnuts that disappeared into the abyss (I mean our hungry bellies) within just a few minutes. Ah, good times!
Anyway, recently we got our hands on Oh Donuts, a food truck specialised in some superb doughnuts. Interesting toppings, freshly outta oven and oh-so-delicious!
How To Order
At the moment, they seem to be heavily focused on delivery. However, on a good day, they park their food truck near Arabian Knights in Kollupitiya. They also have a pickup outlet, located down Sri Wanaratne Road, Dehiwela. You can simply call at 0765757574 or DM them through Instagram for orders, delivery and whereabouts.
The Doughnuts
Oh Donuts has a huge collection with over 30 flavours – from Chocolate-glaze to Kiwi Jelly to Tiramisu.
Out of what's available, we opted for five dougnhuts – Strawberry Cream (Rs. 180), Nutella Burst (Rs. 290), Oreo Logic (Rs. 210), Snickers (Rs. 200) and Tiramisu (Rs. 220).
All of them shared the same excellent base. Beautifully golden brown, soft and a little chewy, it had this wonderful crispy quality to its outside.
Glazed with strawberry flavour infused white chocolate, the Strawberry Cream leant on the sweet side. They put a layer of cream in the middle too, but it doesn't significantly improve the sweetness, as the base balances it out.
Staying true to its name, the Nutella Burst is stuffed with Nutella – waiting to be poured out at your touch. There's more Nutella on top, along with desiccated coconut. Needless to say, it's every Nutella lover's dream.
We enjoyed the Oreo Logic too. Featuring a crown of crushed up Oreos, it tasted quite rich and flavourful.
The Tiramisu had the creamiest coffee cream filling. So light, fluffy like a cloud, and delicious.
If you're a fan of Snickers, you've got to try their Snicker doughnut. Covered so generously with a gooey layer of chocolate sauce, and a sprinkle of crushed peanuts, it also comes with a small Snickers bar.
Conclusion
Great, tasty doughnuts for your gluttonous cravings – that's what Oh Donuts is all about. They offer up some unique flavours too, without doing a number on your wallet. We recommend!
