If you’re craving a proper Sri Lankan buffet that doesn’t hold back on flavor or variety, Sheraton Colombo’s Serendib Feast is worth checking out. The entire experience was full of great food that felt both authentic and comforting.
First Impressions
The buffet had all the usual essentials you’d expect starting with a bread and soup corner, which is always a great way to begin. Right next to it was a well-stocked salad bar with both fresh greens and prepared salads, perfect if you like a light start.

Then came the seafood corner, offering everything from prawns to cuttlefish, and a grill station where you could get meats and seafood grilled right in front of you. That smoky aroma definitely pulled us in!
So Many Live Stations
One thing that really stood out was the number of live cooking stations. There was something happening everywhere chefs making grilled meats, tossing hot butter cuttlefish and devilled chicken in fiery woks, preparing pasta to order, and even the sound of kottu being chopped up at the Sri Lankan corner. The vibe was energetic, and the food was constantly fresh.

The Highlight: Sri Lankan Food
As expected, the Sri Lankan spread was the heart of the buffet. What made it even better was the choice of rice, roti, string hoppers, and even hoppers, all warm and perfectly cooked. From flavorful dhal curries, chicken curry, and black pork curry, to spicy ambul thiyal and all the sambols your heart could want it was all so well done. Every dish felt like it had that proper homemade touch.

Even though the focus was clearly Sri Lankan, the Western and Japanese sections were surprisingly good too. The sushi was fresh, the tempura was light, and there was a nice range of pasta and meats, alongside more comfort food like noodles and fried rice. So even if you’re not in the mood for curry, there’s plenty to choose from and sides if you wanted to mix things up.

Desserts & Drinks
Dessert was a real treat. They had a nice variety of Sri Lankan sweets like wattalappam, kavum, and kokis, plus a live pancake station where they made local-style pancakes filled with treacle and coconut. There was also a good selection of ice cream, cakes, and fruits as well.

One of the highlights of the night was the mocktail they made for us on the spot. It was called “Colombo Harricenne”, and it tasted just like achcharu in drink form made with ambarella, lime, pineapple, red chilli, and salt. It was spicy, tangy, sweet, and honestly so refreshing. Totally recommend trying it!

The Vibe
What really tied the whole experience together was the live music. The band was amazing they actually walked around to each table and took song requests. It felt so personal and added a really nice, joyful energy to the night. Everyone was smiling, singing along, and just having a great time.

All in all, in the Serendib Feast the food was genuinely good, especially the Sri Lankan dishes, and the mix of live stations, music, and atmosphere made it a super enjoyable experience. Whether you’re going with family, friends, or even for a special night out, it’s definitely one of those buffets you’ll want to go back to.
