Colombo has a few party supply stores, but most of the products are not of especially high quality. Party Station is a new shop in the new Liberty Arcade which has glow sticks, balloons, party hats, costumes – basically whatever you’d need for any celebration. It all seems high quality and is priced accordingly.
The Supplies
Glowsticks, Rs. 150 and upThe Party Station has a lot of cool stuff which is also a bit expensive. We’re presuming because they’re of good quality. The items that caught our eye were glowsticks (bracelets, necklaces, etc), costumes (Marilyn Monroe and ‘Pimptress’), disco balls, balloons, signs, everything you could need.
We’re say the items are expensive because they’re not cheap. We asked at the counter and Gehan there said it was because they were importing Grade A stuff rather than the Grade B stuff you usually get in Pettah and then everywhere else.
We haven’t bought anything so can’t vouch for it, but the products do look solid. They also do bubble/smoke/fog machines, strobe lights, gas balloons, balloon bouquets, etc. Party plates, party cups, stuffed animals, whatever.
The Location
The new Liberty Arcade (next to the original Liberty Plaza) is conveniently located on Duplication Road with parking in the bigger mall. The shop itself is next to the Alerics.
The shop itself is nicely laid out compared to feeling like you’re in someone’s garage.
