The Sweeter Side.

We’re glad Colombo’s got so many home bakers lately and there’s a new one that seems to pop up every week. The Sweeter Side is one of them. We tried them out, the prices are alright, and we liked their fudge brownies.

We got a party of stuff from here. The Sweeter Side makes everything – cupcakes, brownies, swiss rolls, love cake, almond cake and so on.

We got mint frosting cupcakes and strawberry frosting cupcakes. It tasted alright, but we’ve got to say the cake was on the dry side and the cupcakes seem smaller compared to the stuff of other cupcake bakers. Generally cupcakes here cost around Rs. 85-120 and the minimum is ten, so you’ll spend about 1000 bucks on these.

She also does fondant cakes, which is massive for Rs. 1500.

The cake of the baked goodies here when we ordered them were more plain and not so moist, reminded me of the stuff I have at my granny’s, so if you’re into that, this might be a good place to go with.

Stuff in jars is picking up now among our home bakers (Bakes by Bella, Sweet Tooth), so The Sweeter Side is giving it a shot too. We got the peach jars, which were very fruity but again the cake was drier than we’re used to so it wasn’t my favourite.

Yay for brownies though. It’s quite hard to find good brownies out there, so we’re happy that The Sweeter Side serves some. The brownie was very soft, sugary and chocolatey, and you can get a minimum of 16 pieces at just about Rs. 1000.

Conclusion

The Sweeter Side are nice people and we’re glad to see them contribute to the local home baking scene. Their prices are reasonable compared to a lot of home bakers, go for the bulk orders if you want very simple, bread-ey party food.
