A warm breakfast at Hilton Colombo.

Graze Kitchen being called out one of the finest and elite restaurants in Colombo, makes Hilton Colombo definitely a gra’Z’eful location to dine in.

As said, Hilton Colombo has always been outstanding in their cuisine. Nevertheless we got a splendid opportunity to step into a warm breakfast buffet at Graze Kitchen, and stuff ourselves with a heavenly spread of many cuisines.

We are too excited to show you what we enjoyed at this dazzling breakfast buffet and I’m sure you cannot wait too.

How we STARTED it off:

Be it a starter or not, We wouldn’t dare to miss Cornflakes for breakfast, no matter where it is, and that too Chocos. So alongside Chocos, we also tried their fresh cut salad vegetables, cold cuts including Pork Ham/Salami and bread rolls.

The spread also served Muesli, Yogurt mixed Whole-grain items, and other Cereals, which were indeed Kid’s Friendly too.

We did not forget to stuff our plates with a few “Sweet Bakes” such as Doughnuts, Muffins, Cheese and Chocolate Croissants, and even some Chocolate Caramel Pastries. The bakes at this spread is a MUST TRY, for they are super soft, perfectly sweet and hits you on the spot.

East Asian Spread:

Graze Kitchen has an amazing spread of East Asian Cuisine for this Breakfast Buffet which includes Japanese, Chinese and even a few Singaporean dishes. Sushi here is a must try as there are few options and flavors, however the Sushi Rice coated was not as soft or easily chewy as we expected it to be. But, once dipped in Soy Sauce, this Sushi definitely satisfied my Palette.

On the other hand, the Chinese Cuisine was enchanting and catered to a few authentic Chinese dishes which we have not yet come across in other Breakfast Buffets around Colombo. We took a chance in trying out Vegetable Spring rolls, Steamed Pork Shumai,  Stir fried Pak Choy with Garlic, and Garlic flavored fried Pork ribs out of this mesmerizing Chinese Spread and not to forget, they even had an authentic Chinese Hot Pot.

Sri Lankan Twist:

What more would a good local Sri Lankan prefer over a hearty Sri Lankan meal, especially for Breakfast, because as stated in Sri Lankan folklore, “We need to take our Breakfast just like how a King would”.

Chefs at Graze Kitchen and Hilton Colombo indeed have mastered the art of preparing a feast of Sri Lankan food, not only for our locals, but also for the enthusiastic foreigners who would love a taste of Sri Lankan cuisine.

The Sri Lankan Spread had everything an authentic Sri Lankan family would have for Breakfast, starting off with Mani Pittu, String Hoppers, Milk Rice along with their accompaniments such as Pol Sambol, Dried Fish Sambol (Kunisso Sambol), Scraped Coconut, Lunu Miris (Katta Sambol), and even Jaggery.

Our eyes were so pleased to see that there were 3-4 Sri Lankan Curries on the other side, and those included a Potato Curry, Black Pork Curry, and a Chicken Curry. The Sri Lankan in me will always choose Milk Rice over anything else and so we went on to try the deadly combo of Milk Rice, Lunu Miris and Black Pork Curry. The Black Pork Curry had layers of flavors, evenly spicy and a savor that cannot be put into mere words.Take my word for it, this is THE BEST SRI LANKAN FOOD COMBO you can ever try at Graze Kitchen!

Not to forget, the chefs did even better justice to this Sri Lankan corner by adding native Sri Lankan Lavariya and our all time favorite; the good old Fish Rolls.

Tip; if you have never tried Milk Rice with Jaggery, then here is your call to give a shot at it too.

Among the other Cuisines:

The breakfast buffet at Graze Kitchen was not limited to just the above two cuisines but also consisted of an Intercontinental spread, Indian feast, a good old English breakfast, and many more.

While the Indian feast had a variety including Idli, Lachha Paratha, Bread Pakora, Uttapam etc, the intercontinental spread comprehended of a whole section of Baked goods and Pastries, while also having a separate corner dedicated for Fruits; be it raw or pickled. The buffet included everything an accepted English Breakfast should have in it from Baked Beans to the Bacon, Fried egg and Sausage, and also Toast.

To satisfy your Sweet Tooth:

Now this end of the buffet was rather dazzling for it had a collection of varieties. We were swayed by the Waffles, French Toast, Chocolate bread, Doughnuts, Chocolate Croissants and other pastries. Yes, they are always available in every buffet we go to, but trust me, the flavor-savor of these can be quite unmatched to the rest we find elsewhere.

If you are more into a healthier breakfast and are considering a healthier way of satisfying the sweet tooth, you are very welcomed to try out their Fruits Corner. Finely cut Papaya, Watermelon, Varieties of Guava, Pineapple are what makes the fruit corner a success.

Take note that if you are a Pickle lover, this fruits corner even has Pickled Fruits to make your palette happy.

Chef’s Special for the day:

We were quite lucky enough to be able to try the Chef’s Special dishes for the day, finely curated to impress all guests alike.

“Spicy Shrimp Noodles” and “Braised Pork Belly” was the Chef’s special that we laid our hands on this day and the noodle dish was quite fascinating when mixed with the Pork belly. Firmly spicy, moderately sweet and leaves a well balanced after taste in your palette.

Hardest Goodbye:

Filling tummies and filling hearts, the Breakfast Buffet at Graze Kitchen have made us settle only for the best. There’s nothing that is unavailable in this buffet for it even has Pizza. Truly living up to the phrase of “All day dining”, Chefs and the Staff at Graze Kitchen have done an undeniably incredible job in catering this magnificent buffet to the overwhelming guests of Hilton Colombo.

So if you are in a mood for a magnificent breakfast and would love to indulge yourself in a feast, Graze Kitchen’s Breakfast Buffet is the way to satisfy the moods, tastes and everything.
