In order to visit the luxurious meat fest we visited, Kings Steakbar which delivered an experience worth savoring.

A Moody and Cozy Ambience That Elevates Your Brunch Experience

The moment you step into Kings Steak Bar, you’re embraced by a warm, moody atmosphere that perfectly complements its fine dining appeal. Soft, ambient lighting casts a golden glow across dark wood interiors, creating an intimate and relaxed setting ideal for slow brunches or elegant evenings. Plush seating invites you to unwind, making every bite more enjoyable and every conversation more meaningful.

What truly elevated the experience, though, was the presence of live jazz musicians softly serenading the room – adding a touch of sophistication and soulful charm to the already luxurious ambiance. It’s a cozy, musical escape in the heart of Colombo – perfect for those who appreciate refined dining wrapped in comfort and class.

Salad Station

Did you know that Kings Steak Bar features a live-action salad station where a chef personally prepares your favorite salad, just the way you like it? That’s right! Alongside this interactive experience, there’s also a dedicated salad section as part of the buffet, offering a tempting variety including pasta salad, potato salad, and egg salad – all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. To top it off, they even had separate servings of jalapeños, olives, cherry tomatoes and corn – personal favorites of mine that I couldn’t resist going back for more. Honestly, how often do you come across a salad bar this exciting at a Sunday brunch buffet?

A Decadent Cheese & Charcuterie Experience Worth Savoring

One of the most unforgettable highlights of our visit to Kings Steak Bar was the exquisite cheese and charcuterie selection – a true haven for gourmet lovers. The artisanal cheese platter featured an indulgent variety ranging from sharp Cheddar and creamy Brie to velvety Edam and bold Blue cheese. Although my colleague and I were initially hesitant, one taste was all it took to win us over – each bite was rich, refined, and utterly delicious.

The imported meat selection was just as impressive, offering a luxurious medley of flavors with lamb, pork, and chicken chorizo, delicately sliced beef salami, parma ham and tender chicken ham. A standout was the chicken pâté en croûte – a classic French delicacy of seasoned ground meat encased in a golden, flaky pastry crust. While our first bite was taken with curiosity, the taste quickly turned to delight.

With so many tempting options on this gourmet station alone, we found ourselves wishing for more room – but the buffet had only just begun, and an even grander culinary journey awaited.

A Lavish Seafood Station for the True Connoisseur

For lovers of the ocean’s finest treasures, Kings Steak Bar’s extravagant seafood station is nothing short of spectacular. From freshly shucked oysters and tender mussels to chilled prawn cocktails, succulent scampi, whole lobsters, and delicately smoked salmon, the spread is a dream come true. Highlights also include vibrant tuna ceviche and the elegantly presented slipper lobsters – each dish curated to showcase the pure, refined essence of the sea.

While I wouldn’t usually call myself a seafood enthusiast, the smoked salmon, tuna ceviche, and prawn cocktail were absolute standouts. Each bite was bursting with freshness and flavor, perfectly balancing delicacy with depth. It’s clear that meticulous attention has been given to preserving the unique character of each seafood item, creating a luxurious tasting experience that even a casual seafood fan can fall in love with.

A Warm Welcome: Soup & Artisan Bread at Kings Steak Bar

The journey began with a comforting duo – a soup station featuring velvety pumpkin soup and rich French onion soup, accompanied by an elegant selection of freshly baked breads. Both soups offered a unique start to our indulgent brunch experience. The French onion soup, with its savory depth, gently reset our palates and set the tone for the feast ahead, while the creamy pumpkin soup enveloped us in warmth, leaving us craving another spoonful.

The breads were incredibly fresh, with a satisfying crust and soft center – ideal for dipping. We highly recommend pairing your favorite soup with a slice (or two) of this artisanal bread. The harmony between the hearty broth and the warm, pillowy bread creates a simple yet luxurious combination that’s hard to resist.

A Grand Feast of Meats, Sauces & Sides – The Heart of Kings Steak Bar’s Sunday Brunch

Our culinary journey reached its peak with the show-stopping carvery and mains – a true celebration of expertly prepared meats and indulgent sides. We began with the Lamb Rack, which, though bone-in, offered tender meat that effortlessly fell off the bone. This was just the beginning of a symphony of flavors.

The slow-roasted leg of lamb was served with an aromatic thyme merlot jus and a classic mint sauce, creating a beautifully balanced bite of richness and freshness. The roasted turkey and roasted chicken, both perfectly cooked, were elevated by flavorful sauces like cranberry red wine jus and bordelaise sauce, adding depth to every slice.

For red meat lovers, the indulgent US ribeye and beef mignon paired perfectly with a sharp and creamy green peppercorn sauce. Pork enthusiasts were treated to the delightful sweetness of pork honey ham and honey-roasted pork loin – both glazed to perfection.

Beyond the carvery, we explored a variety of gourmet dishes including shepherd’s pie, baked crabs, Eggs Benedict, Oysters Rockefeller, BBQ pork ribs, grilled salmon, and roasted bone marrow. Each dish was crafted with finesse, but the baked crab, BBQ pork ribs, and shepherd’s pie were absolute standouts – rich, flavorful, and unforgettable.

Complementing this feast were a host of warm, hearty sides. While the corn rice didn’t quite match our personal preferences, the macaroni, roasted potatoes, and especially the truffle mash were deliciously satisfying. The truffle mash in particular was silky and indulgent – a true comfort dish.

From the vegetable selection, we thoroughly enjoyed the honey-baked carrots and cauliflower mash. The carrots were sweet with a satisfying crunch, while the cauliflower was smooth, creamy, and delicately seasoned – a perfect balance of texture and flavor. Other options like broccoli and beans, grilled onions, and beetroot added both color and nutrition to our plates.

In short, we tried it all – and we’d recommend every bite. Kings Steak Bar’s buffet isn’t just a meal; it’s a meticulously curated gourmet experience that delivers elegance, flavor, and satisfaction with every course.

The Crepe Station & Desserts

One of our favorite parts of the entire brunch experience at Kings Steak Bar was without a doubt the crepe station. Fresh crepes were made on the spot and served warm with a rich mango sauce topping, and you could even add a scoop of ice cream on request – which, of course, we did! The combination of the warm crepe, cold ice cream, and that delicious mango sauce just melted perfectly in the mouth. It was one of the standout moments of our visit.

Moving on to the dessert table, we also tried the cinnamon apple crumble pudding and bread and butter pudding, both served with custard and butterscotch sauce. Personally, I thought the bread and butter pudding paired best with the butterscotch – it was comforting and full of flavor.

Another interesting treat was the Braco de Mestre – a light, meringue-like roll filled with custard and fruits. It was soft, sweet, and very different from the usual. We also couldn’t skip the chocolate fondue, dipping fluffy marshmallows into the rich, flowing chocolate.

There were plenty more desserts to choose from too – fruit trifle, English fruit cake, date and treacle tart, and so many other sweet delights that made the dessert corner feel like its own little festival.

From the luxurious ambiance and live jazz to the impressive spread of gourmet meats, seafood, fresh salads, and divine desserts, the Sunday brunch at Kings Steak Bar by The Kingsbury is more than just a meal — it’s a full sensory experience. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, every corner filled with charm, and every bite feels like a celebration. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply looking for a lavish brunch outing in Colombo, this is a place that truly delivers. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.
