Bites Sri Lanka
Bites Sri Lanka is a comparatively cheap and reliable option to get some delicious bites delivered to your doorstep. Their menu has a nice local touch to it, and includes a variety of curried up, devilled and stewed chicken, beef and pork. The Beef Curry is perhaps the best meat curry we've had all year, while the Pork Stew was hella rich with peppery, mustardy kicks.

Street Bites
Street Bites is another home cook who does some flavour-packed bites to pair with your beer. Their main focus is on chicken, pork and seafood-centric bites, but also does a couple of vegetarian dishes. The Pepper Pork was the biggest highlight of our meal here, which comes with a good dose of kochchi in it.

Burning Bird Rotisserie
A concept kitchen by the German food hub in Colombo — the Bavarian German Restaurant, Burning Bird Rotisserie crafts up some incredibly flavoursome chicken wings, smothered with a range of interesting, homemade sauces. Their wings are available in 3, 6 and 12-size portions, and they also do roast chicken (full/half/quarter), and a bunch of sides. Our favourites here include Bourbon & BBQ Wings, Spicy Mango Wings and Atomic Jalapeño & Sriracha Wings.

Gi-Gi Flavours
Gi-Gi Flavours is all about hefty portions of affordably priced, tasty Chinese-style bites. You can taste some absolutely flavourful Devilled Chicken here, as well as some cashew-packed, Beef & Mushroom Stir-fry.

Chooty's Kitchen does chicken right. Wings, legs and lollipop — this home cook prepares them well with their range of homemade sauces, and delivers to your front door. Aside from chicken specialities, they also make a mean fried rice.

1979 Boralesgamuwa was one of our regular hangout spots during the pre-COVID era, when we're in the mood for some excellently prepared Sri Lankanised Chinese bites, paired with something boozy. We're in love with their Hot Butter Cuttlefish and the Kalupol Pork.

Red Panda
Hot Butter Cuttlefish is the cornerstone of Sri Lankanised Chinese bites, and Red Panda is another great spot to get some of that. We suggest pairing it up with their Chilli Chicken, which comes with a heap of cashew nuts.

A welcome addition to the burbs, Gloriance Sky Lounge in Boralesgamuwa serves up Chinese-style bites with a local twist. We highly recommend their Devilled Chicken and Hot Butter Cuttlefish.

The BYOB Society
Built on the concept of BYOB, The BYOB Society joined the suburban hangout scene just a few months ago. We haven't checked them out yet, but rumour has it that it houses plenty of fine bites — from Fried Garlic to Chicken Lollipop to Tempura Handella.
