10 Things To Do On A Lazy Sunday.

If someone had to choose the absolute worst day of the week, it would have to be Monday, but, if you had to choose a second worst day of the week, it would have to be Sunday.

Why? you may ask. With Monday looming ahead of you like the plague and the idea of a full 5 days staring at a computer screen for 8 hours of your day becoming more of a reality with each second that passes, most of our morale runs low and if you're anything like me, you must already hate even the idea of Sundays, and that's okay. We've got you covered fam, here are a bunch of things you can do on a lazy Sunday that don't really require much energy and makes your day that much better.

1. Sleep

Of course, the most obvious on our list. Sleep is a wonderful thing that has the power to help you get through absolutely anything, much less a Sunday. May it be dosing your entire day away or just getting enough sleep to satisfy all the other days you suffered without it during the week, just forget about the week and catch up on your sleep; you already know that it's worth it.

2. Mess is Mine

Cleaning is a pretty horrendous thing when you get to it, but, what's worse than cleaning happens to be the prospect of starting your week with the added load of a mountain of laundry, unwashed plates, dying plants and layers of dust you should have swiped off ages ago. So, lazy Sunday or not, start your week in a solid foot and get that cleaning done. Trust us, nothing helps you feel more productive than getting your cleaning done before you start that dreadful week again.

3. Have a proper feast of a homey lunch including your favourite comfort food

We're all busy. From balancing a bunch of different aspects of your life that we deem "important", we've limited ourselves to cold offices and blocks of fish infused rice and bland veggies for lunch, so, do everything you need to get done ASAP on Saturday and make yourself a big Sunday lunch to sleep away the day with a good old afternoon nap.

4. Go to the Beach

Even though we live on an island, not many of us actually wind up going to the beach even once or twice a year. But, if faced with a solid day of no plans, we suggest giving up your PJs for a pair of shorts and making your way to one of the corners of Colombo (or even further than here) to dig your feet into the sand and stick your tongue out to taste the salt, or better yet, pick up some trash while you're at it and help the planet a bit while you're at it.

5. A morning jog

Weekdays are for going to work and Saturdays are for recovering from Friday night, but for those of you who don't go to church, you don't really have another excuse to postpone that morning workout session another time. Plus, with close to no traffic on the road and dawn on a Sunday hitting very differently when compared with other days, you have no reason not to.

So, come 6 am on a Sunday, get your running shoes on and start your morning better than ever.

6. A movie marathon

The best part about a lazy Sunday is staying in bed. And what better way to spend the day away than in your comfiest pair of PJs, a big bowl of noodles, a flask of tea and a string of your favourite movies?

7. Catching up with your friends who complain that you never see them anymore

Remember that big Sunday lunch we planned for you? Yeah. Toss in a bunch of friends and you've got yourself a party. A big Sunday lunch, plenty of tea in various varieties and you get to see your friends again. Get one of them to bring some rich chocolate cake and indulge in just spending time with each other. It's better than eating alone, that's for sure.

8. Quality time with your dog/pet

No matter how many times you leave him alone at home with no greater company than a cage, remember that your dog is and will always be your best friend. And with a packed week before you, spend some time with the one who truly loves you unconditionally doing the things he loves to do.

And if you don't want to stay at home, remember that Tayo Bear still exists.

9. Go to see your grandma

Most of us don't have time to breathe, and when we do happen to find some time, we usually end up spending it at home in an episode of a day without leaving your bed. And that's okay, you need some you time, but, if you're looking for some quality time that doesn't involve staying alone, you can try visiting your grandparents or just spending some time with the elderly. Chances are that you'll be making their day and let's be honest now, old people are the best!

10. Drive to Galle and call yourself poetic for doing it

If you don't want to do any of these and you're looking for something a bit more productive than reading, we suggest saying screw it to everything and taking a drive so long it takes you to Galle Fort for lunch and back. Throw in some old school Adele or Hozier to the mix and you'll have yourself a scene from a movie to tell your work colleagues about as opposed to their mundane Sundays laying in bed.
