There’s always a new baker popping up these days in Colombo so obviously we haven’t covered every one of them – but this is a pretty decent round-up. If we missed anything, please comment and let us know.
These bakers aren’t exclusively cupcake or brownie bakers – some of the ones in the cupcakes sections make brownies too, and so on, but we’ve just marked them according to what we think they’re best at.
Cupcakes
Cupcakes are my personal favourite of the lot. Making the perfect cupcake isn’t easy – a lot of the time, they don’t stay fresh for long and the icing or the cake become dry. So kudos to these guys for doing it right.

Brownies
It’s almost impossible to find a very good brownie in a regular bakery. So home bakers are the only real way you can get some done the right way. These are our favourite brownie bakers who make them extra chocolatey and soft.

Jars are relatively new in the local baking scene. We love them though, and anybody who enjoys digging into a jar of nutella with a spoon for example, would agree.

Special Mention: Ambrosia. We reviewed Ambrosia recently, and they are not a home-baker, they are a company. So they’re not on our main list. But their cupcakes tasted so good and were made with the special attention you only find with home bakers, that we thought it was worth mentioning anyway.
