Harpo’s 22 Inch Pizza.

Big enough to be rims on a rapper’s Bentley, Harpo’s 22 inch pizza can easily feed ten people. It’s got the usual tasty toppings and the added novelty factor of being the biggest pizza ever sold in Sri Lanka (AFAIK).

The Pizza

Bam. Dat pizza. I tried to photograph this before people started eating but I was too late. The flavors we got were the parma ham and rocket, the prawn and pesto, and the Marco Polo (chicken, beef, sausages, feta). Harpo’s toppings are tried and tested and these don’t disappoint.

The only question would be whether a giant pizza cooks as well as a regular pizza, and it does. Don’t know how big the mouth of their oven is, but the pizza was evenly cooked, well seasoned and tasted great.

There’s a range of toppings that Harpo’s offers, from meats (including lamb), to seafood to some good cheese and veg options. You can check out their menu here if you’re choosing something for yourself. I personally like, in addition to the ones above, the Pizza Grecia (lamb), the Pizza Tikka, and the Pizza Vidello (with a generous application of tabasco sauce).

The price range on the 22″” is Rs. 4,830 to Rs. 5,670 so when you mix and match you get something in that price range. Basically around Rs. 5,000.

Each of the giant squares is cut into 36 pieces and 3-4 pieces is more than enough for a person. You can serve 10 reasonable people in one shot. This makes it the perfect party pizza. Not that you couldn’t just order two 19″”, but the theatre of this giant box somehow makes it more worthwhile.

Service/Location

Harpo’s has two locations now – operating out of Bayleaf on Gregory’s Road or from Nugegoda. To order you just call one number (011 486 9000) and the pizza comes from wherever is closest. Harpo’s delivery and service is excellent, and is among the best in the pizza business.

When you order a pizza this big they seem to send it via trishaw because it won’t fit on a bike. Delivery usually takes about 45 minutes, depending. They’re not as fast as Pizza Hut or Domino’s, but the pizza is better and they are reliable.

Conclusion

This Beastmode pizza is great for parties or if you want to have like 8 pizza meals by yourself. The novel size doesn’t detract from taste. We recommend it for groups of around 10.
