Mother’s Day Meals.

If you're looking for excuses to indulge the mater, there's no better day than Mother's Day to do so. Best is, the array of special brunches and teas put together by hotels, so yay for different menus and music! That said, there's nothing wrong with sticking to what's comforting and familiar; so… we've compiled a list of places which offers both — Mother's Day specials, and your good ol' regulars.

1. Tea Dance

Want to treat your mother to something super fancy? Kingsbury's having a Caviar and Oyster Brunch, with some live music to set the mood. Stretching on until 4PM, this is for all the dainty aunties out there. Pinkies up!

(p.s- they've also got four different things going on, including a dinner special. Check out the flyer below for more deets).

2. Sunday Brunch

The Mount Lavinia Hotel is a gorgeous old (literally, given that it's about two centuries old) place, with impeccable food, good views, and a nice beach to boot. The package includes a gift pack from Stone n String. Pair it up with some fresh flowers and a hand-made card to complete this special occassion.

3. Trekurious' Spring in Italy

Riding on the success of their Secret Garden brunch, Trekurious is hosting another decadent brunch at the same location – Havelock Place Bungalow. The premises are charming, secluded, and leafy, and the food prepared by Italian home-chef Valentina Gonsal promises to be delicious. The Rs. 5500 price tag includes free-flowing Campari spritzes, an extensive menu, and a bunch of goodie bags.

4. rare at Residence

Your mother is sure to be amazed at the flavours of ice-cream here, to say the least. Their steaks are on point, and they use local ingredients innovatively, creatively, and successfully. Though fine-dining, the menu won't confuse you with needlessly elaborate and indecipherable names.

5. Theva Cuisine

If you fancy going out of town ('town' being Colombo in our case) and hitting the Hanthane Hills for the weekend, check into Theva Cuisine for what's possibly the best food you can find around the Kandy area. We cannot emphasize how great their service is, and their desserts and drinks are something to keep an eye out for.

6. COi by Vichalya

COi whips up some of Colombo's most creative meals, what with local ingredients used innovatively to come up with fresh new dishes which are sure to impress even the most unimpressionable madre.

They've got a special menu up for Mother's Day, at only Rs. 3,500 nett, which should be totally worth it.

7. Water's Edge

Head over to Pranzo's for some fancy Italian with superb service. They've got a Mother's Day Brunch going on from 11:30AM to 3PM, priced at Rs. 3,750. They've got a great view going on, so it's the ideal place if you want somewhere green and outdoorsy to bond over in Colombo.

Meanwhile, The Bakery at the Edge also has a few pink-and-purple themed cakes and cookies.

We'll be updating this list as and when we get to know of more special offers.
