Power Cut Tips And Timetables.

Here’s a quick rundown of 10 things you can do during a power cut. This is relevant because Sri Lanka is going to be seeing daily power cuts for the first time in years. This has happened because coal and thermal power plants have broken down and there isn’t enough rain to power hydro power plants. The end result is that Sri Lankans have to go without, but that doesn’t mean you have to go without fun. There are ten tips in the video above, and the power cut timetable below.

Sri Lankan Power Cut Schedule

Power cuts will be imposed in following areas:

Anuradhapura, Habarana, Vavuniya, Thulhiriya, Bolawatta, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Chilaw, Madampe, Ampara, Trincomalee, Biyagama, Katunayake, Kosgama, Kelaniya, Aniyakanda, Veyangoda, Athurugiriya, Pannipitiya, Avissawella, Embilipitiya, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Rantambe, Ambalangoda, Deniyaya, Galle, Matara, Mathugama, Panadura, Kiribathkumbura, Ukuwela, Wimalasurendra, Hambantota, Beliatta, Ratmalana and nearby villages.

8.30 – 10.45am AND 6.30 – 7.15pm in following areas:

Galle Face, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Vauxhall Street, Dickman’s Road, Independence Avenue, Jawatta, Torrington Avenue, Horton Place, Rosmead Place, Borella, Cotta Road, Barnes Place, Ward Place, Town Hall, Dam Street, Sugathadasa Stadium, Grandpass and areas surrounding the Premadasa Stadium.

10.45am – 1.00pm AND 7.15 – 8.00pm

Empire City, Bambalapitiya Flats, Havelock Road, Kirulapone, Mayura Place, Gothami Road, Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha, Maligawatta, Sangaraja Mawatha, Jethawana Road, St. John’s Street, Ketawalamulla, Messenger Street and surrounding areas.

1.00 – 3.15pm AND 8.00 – 8.45pm

York Street, 1st and 2nd Cross Street, Chatham Street, Sir Baron Jayatilaka Mawatha, part of Galle Face, Union Place, Dharmapala Mawatha, Liberty Plaza, Colpetty Market Complex, Bambalapitiya, Elvitigala Mawatha, Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Punchi Borella, Dematagoda, Baseline Road, Bodhiraja Mawatha, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Technical Junction and Port areas.

3.15 – 5.30 pm AND 8.45 – 9.30 pm
