The Batman 2022- No spoiler review.

By Ruchika Seneviratne

Arguably the most anticipated movie of 2022, it definitely didn’t disappoint as this masterpiece of a movie served up some beautiful cinematography, acting, suspense and storyline. Directed by Matt Reeves, he has done a superb job in keeping this movie together. The musical score was composed by Michael Giacchino, which also played a big role in creating some hauntingly beautiful moments in this movie. A special mention should go out for the cinematography of this movie because it was absolutely breathtaking and created some truly hauntingly beautiful moments throughout the film.

Personally for me, being a huge fan of the previous Batman trilogy, this was right up there along with those three movies. However, starring Robert Pattinson as Batman, the interpretation of Batman, as a character was very different from what we’ve seen earlier. This movie presented Batman as a much more depressed, dark and frankly, deranged character and Pattinson was absolutely incredible in bringing out that light of the character.

Talking about the other characters, Catwoman was portrayed brilliantly by Zoë Kravitz as a feisty, unhinged yet determined character. Inspector Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth were portrayed by Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis respectively, and they also did a stellar job. The chemistry between each of these three characters and Batman is also noteworthy as they interacted with him really well and had some really good scenes.

Talking about the villains, The Riddler was simply fantastic. Personally, I had some doubts whether the Riddler will be good enough as a villain but oh boy, was I wrong. He was a menacing character, constantly toying with Batman and the Gotham police, eluding them in every step of the way. I won’t give away too many details of his activities here, but he really did break Batman psychologically and can be considered on par with the likes of Joker, Bane etc., so kudos to Paul Dano on a terrific performance.

One advice to people who are going to watch this movie is to pay attention to the dialogues of this movie. A major part of the plot rides on the conversations of the characters so it is very important to pay attention to it. Another important message is that there is a post credit scene in this movie, so do stay put until the credits roll out. Enjoy !
