5 Places to Buy Imported Goods in Sri Lanka.

1. GLOMARK Thalawathugoda

If you’re looking for imported goods, the first place to think of is definitely GLOMARK, because they have such a wide range of items. What’s more, we have great news; they just opened a brand new store at Thalawathugoda! This outlet, with over 15,000 Sq.ft of retail shopping space, has the usual range of local produce and household staples in addition to the amazingly extensive range of imported items. This includes premium cereals, sauces, juices, meat, ice-cream and chocolates.

Gone are the days of waiting for relatives living abroad to come on holidays, bringing much-awaited goodies with them. Something that sets GLOMARK apart from other supermarkets is the fact that all their imported items are from the countries the products were originally manufactured in, there are no low-quality blow-offs.

Among these items, we found some very impressive looking sauces imported all the way from Italy, and it’s no secret that no one can beat the Italians at whipping up a yummy Bolognese sauce! We also discovered rows upon rows of imported spreads, salad dressings and coffee! And who’d say no to a good cup of steaming, authentic coffee right?

The juice collection was exceedingly satisfying as well, with a healthy mix of both local and international brands. To appeal to our readers who plead guilty to an undeniable sweet tooth, they have fridges absolutely packed with ice cream brands like Baskin Robbins and Wall’s ice cream from the UK.

Moving on to what was the highlight of the store to me, their shelves housing the chocolate range. This. Is. To. Die. For. The shelves were literally overflowing with premium brands like Cadbury, Lindt, Hersheys and Kitkat. And it’s not just the regular milk chocolate that they have. There are chocolates of every possible description and you are guaranteed to find a mouth-watering slab to suit your exacting taste buds.

They even have a wide range of imported pet food for out furry friends!

Head over to GLOMARK to get your hands on some of your favourites, for their well-stocked aisles are home to all kinds of international brands. Parking is convenient too; they have a very large area set out for this!

Address: 539/551, Pannipitiya Road, Thalawathugoda

2. Bohemian Quest

Bohemian quest is a quaint little outlet packed with premium imported goods. Their options are not only healthy and organic, but affordable as well; which is really cool, because we all know that buying healthy imported foods usually leaves your wallet feeling very…slim.

Their goods include nutrition bars packed with fruity, nutty goodness, dried fruit, organic spread devoid of any added sugar, a range of nuts including almonds and walnuts of the best quality, organic teas, premium pasta, quinoa, Greek yoghurt and an extensive range of flour including white flour and coconut flour.

The best thing about the items up for grabs here is that they’re all so easy to implement into your lifestyle. For example, a nutrition bar is filling enough to make up your breakfast, but if you’re someone who needs something to give you that extra boost to start off your day, a smoothie made of their yoghurt or oat milk blended in with a twist of one of their superfood fruits like their Goji berries would be perfect!

Check out their website, its super easy to use.

Opening hours: 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

3. Online Kade

Online Kade first started off as a purely online enterprise, but then opened their own store due to popular demand. They offer an incredibly extensive range of imported goods ranging from dairy products, dry rations and premium chocolates to hair and skin products and even baby-care items!

The store is quite small, but in our opinion this simply adds to its appeal. The tons of items packed closely onto the shelves on either side of narrow aisles gives one the impression of being overwhelmed by their treats, in the best way possible.

Their items are quite reasonably priced. This, coupled with the seemingly never-ending range of goods as well as the superb customer service, makes this place a must visit. However, if you’re running on a tight schedule, simply order anything you like online; they boast a 24-hour online delivery service.

Address: 95, Galle Road, Colombo 00400

Contact Number: 074 199 2993

Opening Hours: Open 24 hours

4. The Import Shop

The Import Shop is an online only store that sells products ranging from food (especially cereals, canned goods and spreads) to bath and body items (they have the elusive curly hair products here ladies) imported only from Australia and the USA, on a preorder basis. Check them out on Facebook and browse through their albums. The items aren’t categorized, so you might have to spend some time looking for what you need, but this site really is a treasure trove and you’re sure to find something that catches your eye.

The prices are very reasonable and all you need to do in order to place an order is text or WhatsApp them on 070 291 6377. They will provide any further assistance you need in finding a product and will give you a breakdown of your bill. You will then be required to pay 50% of your total in order to confirm your purchase. All you have to do after that is wait for it to be delivered to your doorstep. You also have the option of collecting it from one of their pick up points.

5. Macmart Shoppers Store

Walk into Macmart Shoppers Store and experience what it feels like to have first acquired a sweet tooth and then be thrown into paradise. This is the place to go when you crave chocolates and sweets that you can’t find at regular local supermarkets, with items imported from across the globe. Their range of chocolates covers all the most coveted brands; they sell Hershey’s, Cadbury, Milka, Kitkat, Snickers, Twix, Maltesers, Toblerone and Kinder Bueno, among dozens of others. They have an incredibly diverse range of candy as well. Regardless of whethere you prefer your candy traditionally sweet, or refreshingly sour and tangy, you’re sure to find your perfect pick here.

Apart from their sweets, they also have an interesting range of non-alcoholic drinks, dried fruits, nuts, chips, cereals and canned food. Everything at Macmart is very reasonably priced, especially considering that they’re all imported. They even have a “Special Offers Table” smack in the middle of the store, where you can get yourself some really sweet deals.
