If you've got the right ingredients, here are some super refreshing treats that you can whip up at home to quench your thirst during self-isolation. You can always make them even more interesting by adding a twist of your own.

Carrot, Orange & Ginger Smoothie

Kick start your day with a glass of this healthy Carrot & Orange Smoothie jolted up with a pinch of ginger. 

Chocolate Chip Mocha Breakfast Sundae

If you cannot decide between a chocolate milkshake or coffee milkshake, this Chocolate Chip Mocha Breakfast Sundae is a happy medium. It's refreshing, has the coffee-to-chocolate balance in check, and absolutely delicious. 

Blueberry Milkshake

A sour treat with a fruity kick! Blueberries aren't easy to find these days but you can replace it with other fruits too. It's better than infusing it with flavoured ice cream.

Banana Ginger Smoothie

Banana in a drink may not appeal to some, but ginger certainly does its magic here, so it won't bug you as much as one would think.

Nutella Milkshake

One would be crazy not to love Nutella. Easy to make and oh-so-delicious, this Nutella Milkshake puts all the other basic milkshakes to shame.


Nothing beats this blistering Lankan heat than a glass of this classic pink drink. Infused with sevsanja and topped off with ice cream and sprinkles, we went an extra mile with our faluda, but even the most basic ingredients can create a damn good one. 

Butter Beer

We're pretty sure Madame Rosmerta will approve of this Butter Beer. Made with vanilla ice cream, cream soda and butterscotch syrup which we made from scratch (combine sugar, melted butter and cream), there's no escaping the inevitable foam moustache when you gulp it down.

Mango Lassi

Lassi is a drink that you can always add interesting twists to, so cut up a few mango slices blend it with yoghurt/curd for a fruity rendition. 

Avocado Smoothie

This Avocado Smoothie is one of the best things that can happen to an avocado. It's absolutely rich with flavour, and the vanilla ice cream in the mix makes it refreshing as it could possibly be. Avoid sugar and add a bit of honey to give that lovely sweet kick. 

Achcharu Slushie

If you're one of those people who used to poke holes in the achcharu bag suck the leftover juice out, this drink is right up your alley.
