Janith has added some new stuff to the homepage. Now you can find places close to you (you’ll have to OK use of your location data in a pop-up, we don’t store it) and you can also find a bunch of random (highly rated) posts. Basically so you can find more stuff to read.
Nearby Places
This location-based feature has actually been available for a long time – on the mobile site. If you resize your browser window to very narrow you’ll see the menu change and a ‘Places Closeby’ button appear. We know that Close By is usually two words by the way. Janith also buried this feature in the drop down menu for a while now.
What this feature does is pick up your location (roughly, based on your Internet connection) and suggest a list of places nearby. The mobile version just gives you everything, the website version gives you high rated stuff (yes we have ratings also, we’ll make those public soon).
Shuffle
The shuffle gives you a random list of highly rated places, because there may be a lot of stuff in the archives you haven’t read.
