Classical music, sandwiches, bean bags and faded jeans.
It is a common perception especially in Sri Lanka that classical music is for the older generation, very serious and difficult to understand.
Harmonic Conspiracies was borne out of that realization, when a group of young classical musicians realized that the music they play is unnecessarily associated with formal concerts and is not very accessible.
Their aim is to change this conventional perspective and convery the message that classical music is a genre that has unimaginable depth but is easy to listen to even while nibbling a sandwich, sitting on a bean bag in faded jeans.
The performers will be Dushyanthi Perera, Sulara Nanayakkara, Nilupul Silva, Thivanthi Perera, Johann Peiris, Saranga Cooray, Mangala Abeysekara and Harin Amrithanathan.
They will be performing the Debussy piano trio, movements from a Mozart quintet, Themes from movies such Schindler's List and Wizard of Oz, Selected Broadway Tunes and more.
Harmonic Conspiracies will take place on a Sunday, November 22, from 6PM onwards at the Zylan Luxury Villa on Rosmead Place. Tickets will be sold at the entrance at Rs. 500 per head.
