Cinnamon Red is the newest Colombo hotel, on Green Path. Their rooftop bar is the highest in Colombo and the view around the city is amazing.
Overview
Before we go into detail, here’s a general overview of what you’ll find at Cinnamon Red:
For Guests
- 26 floors of stuff, including five floors of parking
- 242 rooms and 1 suite
- Rooftop pool and gym
As a hotel Red is different because they’ve done away with certain services like valet parking, room service and bellhops. They call this “”lean luxury”” and we think it’s an interesting concept.
For Locals
- Rooftop Bar (roof, duh)
- Cafe (7th floor)
- Restaurant (8th floor)
As a destination for locals the bar is the main attraction. The view is amazing.
Stirred (the cafe, 7th floor), Flavoured (the restaurant, 8th floor) and Cloud Red (the bar) were what interested us the most. Notable mention to the most interesting parking area we’ve ever seen. Check out the graffiti by local talent:
Attractions
Let’s start from the top:
Cloud Red (5:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
Rooftop bars are trending in Colombo, first Kingsbury Sky Lounge, then OZO. Now Cloud Red is the highest one and it has the most comprehensive view. You get a 360 degree panoramic view that covers everything – the city, ocean and harbor. It also has the biggest outdoor space (seating for 80 people and room to amble) and an enclosed wine cellar.
Now back down to the 8th floor, to the restaurant.
Flavoured (6:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
Cinnamon Red has just the one restaurant. Flavoured offers a breakfast buffet and an à la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Most of the options on the menu are cooked at action stations, which is different.
Finally, down to the 7th floor, to the cafe (which also serves booze):
Stirred (7:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Stirred is Red’s cafe and lounge. It’s on the same floor as the reception so you can have a cup of coffee and check out Colombo while you wait for your room. If you’re not a fan of rooftop bars (why?), Stirred also serves alcohol, and the ambience makes it seem like a good spot for business meetings.
Conclusion
They’ve literally only been open for 2 days, but we liked what we saw at Cinnamon Red. Their lean luxury concept is interesting for guests, and the rooftop bar is a killer draw for anyone.
