We thought we’d opt to eat from a new place available on PickMe Food. So we scrolled down and found the name – Gedara Hadana Kema. It’s a cloud kitchen, so they don’t have a physical address or a FB page.
Rice & Curry
Everything they serve is priced under Rs. 400. Depending on the availability, and hoping that it would live up to its name, we ordered a Thalapath Fish Rice and Curry (Rs. 200). The lunch packet comes in a green box and it felt fairly heavy which meant a big lunch packet, and that it clearly was.
My lunch packet had green beans (bonchi) mixed with potatoes (ala), a fair blob of dhal (parippu), nicely tempered ladies fingers (bandakka), and fried pol sambol. My partner’s lunch packet had all these and also drumstick curry (murunga) which they had withheld from mine. Probably ran out after serving his lunch packet.
Both our lunch packets had a sizable piece of Thalapath fish. The rice was also wet with all the gravy, which I really liked. I hate it when there’s not enough gravy to go around or when the gravy is as insipid as water. Here it was not so, as the flavours and the amount of spice were just right to our liking.
From the first mouthful of rice, we really enjoyed our lunch packet from Gedara Hadana Kema. It was a very big portion too but since it was very tasty we didn’t mind the size.
One thing for sure is, they live up to their name. Every mouthful tasted so homemade. If you are looking for a new place to eat from, it’s available on PickMe food. We enjoyed it very much and we think you just might too.
