We love the Good Market. It is, as the name implies, very good. In two years the Good Market has grown from Thursdays in Battaramulla to add Saturdays at Racecourse and a permanent store. Now, starting today, they’re also becoming an Night Market, staying open from 3-11 PM on Thursdays.
What makes the Good Market good is that its enabled small and family businesses to really innovate and create in terms of food, products, etc. If you have something good, it will do well at the Good Market, provided that it meets their organic/environmental standards.
We’ve watched the Good Market grow and it’s helped launch so many home cooks and producers into viable businesses. It’s like a start-up accelerator for food. Some of our favorite alumni are The Cakery, The Bread Company, Panino’s and Achcharu Kade – all of whom have their own outlets today.
So, we’d like to wish the Good Market and the whole team behind it a very happy birthday. They’ve made Colombo a more interesting and tasty place and provided a platform for so many people to showcase their skills and creativity. Here’s to many more fun years to come.
