Starters
- Chicken Kebab
The chicken kebab came in 4 skewers and is perfect for sharing among friends. It was covered with a spicy and flavoursome sauce that tasted absolutely delicious. However, we would have liked it if the chicken cubes were grilled a bit more in order to be more crispy and crunchy.

The Mains
To be honest, choosing the mains at Kottulabs was such a difficult task because there is so much to choose from. From Godamba Rotti Kottu to Pittu Kottu to Chickpeas Kottu to even Rice Kottu, the variety seems endless. However, we managed to settle for a few interesting dishes just to share our experience with you!
- Chicken & Cheese Kottu
For this Kottu, we selected the base as Godamba Rotti. There was cheese IN the Kottu and it was ALSO topped with a thick, delicious cheese sauce made fresh by the Kottulabs team. And personally, the more cheese the better, which is what I loved about this dish. The Kottu dish also came with 2 pieces of fried chicken. The chicken was deep-fried and cooked well. However, we would have liked the kottu to be a bit spicier. But don’t worry, their website allows you to select the level of spice that you like and we definitely recommend you select medium or higher.

- Prawn Stringhopper Kottu
This Kottu was probably our personal favourite. It was flavoursome, spicy and filling. The String hopper kottu included the mandatory vegetables such as leeks, carrots and onions but there was a special spicy sauce or curry that gave the dish *chef’s kiss* worthy taste. Rather than including sliced up pieces of prawn in the Kottu, the team at Kottu Labs decided to add 6-8 prawns on top of the Kottu. The prawns were deep-fried, crunchy and tasty, just how we would like them!

- ‘Make your own Kottu’ – Crispy Boneless Chicken Kadala Kottu
As if our taste buds were not satisfied enough, we decided to try the ‘Make your own Kottu’ category on their website. We placed an order for a Chickpea Kottu with batter-fried boneless chicken at the medium spice level and we were not disappointed. This was another yet tasty and flavoursome dish which we highly recommend. The chicken was crispier and crunchier than the chicken on the Kebabs and went perfectly well with the Chickpea Kottu dish.
The ‘Make your own Kottu’ category allows you to customize your Kottu dish just the way you like it. Would like some extra cheese? Add it to your cart. Not a huge fan of Leeks? You can choose your own vegetables from onions, and carrots to bell peppers. You can also select the portions of Kottu you would like, it could range from individual servings of Kottu to Kottu sawans. That’s pretty cool!

The team at Kottulabs refrains from adding any preservatives or unhealthy seasonings such as ajinomoto. Their food is cooked with the freshest ingredients and meats. Even though the restaurant didn’t have any exciting beverages or desserts to offer us because of the shortage of many food items in the country, we had a pleasant experience at their restaurant where the food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and efficient. However, the appearance of the restaurant could do with a little renovations. It looks quite dull and uninviting and the sneak peak of the kitchen at the entrance wasn’t the best first impression as you walk in.
We highly recommend you try Kottulabs. You can conveniently place an order online, just click here.
