A few Fridays ago, over the Avurudhu weekend, we opted to get ourselves some treats from a place that was making waves on Instagram. The place is called SweetFix, and it has a plethora of yums to choose from. So, we got in touch via their Facebook page to make inquiries about how we could part with a few pennies to get our hands on their noms.
How To Place An Order
SweetFix specializes in a variety of treats, from cookies to brownies, to muffins, to shortbread, their menu has so much of goodies to pick from.
Unfortunately, though, we could only place an order for cookies because the variety of brownies, the shortbread, and muffins could be purchased only by the tray. Since that would have been too much of sugary treats for the few of us, we decided to place an order for a variety of cookies.
Cookies
Did you know the name cookie is derived from the Dutch word koekje, meaning small or little cake? Probably why I have a fondness towards this crumbly, somewhat chewy, some crispy… cookie.
Okay back to the cookies. We ordered an assortment of SweetFix's Chocolate Chip Cookies, White Chocolate Chip Cookies, Fresh Mint Dark Chocolate Cookies, Double Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cookies.
The Chocolate Chip Cookies (Rs. 110) were big, though a tad too hard to my liking. It had just the right amount of chocolate chips in every bite. These cookies only reached their true potential the day after when I had left them in a semi-airtight container – they had softened overnight to give the cookie the right texture – crumbly and soft.
The Double Chocolate Salted Caramel Cookies (Rs. 170) were a delight at every bite. This was one of those cookies you don't want to share with anyone, the type you want to nibble at intervals because you don't want it to finish too soon. It tasted almost like dark chocolate without the bitterness with a lovely swirl of saltiness. Absolutely yum at every nibble.
The Fresh Mint Dark Chocolate Cookie (Rs. 150) tasted sad. I love mint and the mint was most definitely there, but my problem with it was that it wasn't sweet enough. A good cookie for those who have sugar problems. It's lovely and minty but not sweet enough for people like me, who take their sweet fix very seriously. Also, it's green.
And the final one is my most favourite. The winner of the best cookie award goes to the White Chocolate Chip Cookies (Rs. 150). They were so good, soft and crumbly to my liking and oh those wonderful white chocolate chips were sooo… good! Adding a creamy flavour to the already yummy and tender cookie, they were wonderful. This is the type of cookie that makes you want to go gnom gnom gnom like the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. Highly recommend.
Conclusion
Overall the cookies in a nutshell were a delightful treat. We totally recommend the White Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were the best of the lot. Going by their cookies, I bet the other items on their menu are super too, which I hope to explore on another day.
