This lonely island/isthmus just before Tangalle is a beautiful spot, well worth a stop as you’re driving down the coast. At low tide (around sunset) you can walk/wade across a spit of land and be surrounded by sea and beauty on all sides.
The only man-made attraction on the island itself is a small Buddha statue. Besides that it’s all amazing view.
You could possibly swim here, but it’s not really the best spot for that near Tangalle. This is better for catching a sunset or just taking in the natural beauty of the Indian ocean. It’s near what we think is a war memorial (they wouldn’t let us see for some reason) and Jetwing is building a rather interesting looking hotel on the other side of the bay.
The main use of this bay, however, is still families just walking along the beach, heading out to the island and taking it all in. It’s a beautiful spot.
