Amanté is an MAS brand selling an excellent selection of high quality lingerie at the Colombo Racecourse.

The amanté boutique in Racecourse has been around for a couple of years now — actually, ever since the Racecourse opened up as a new hangout spot in Colombo. It's actually a nice place, with friendly and attentive staff.

The Store

The boutique has three main collections, themed around Spring and Summer, Pre-Fall, and Autumn Winter. But they launched a whole new set of collections (four, to be precise) just earlier this month.

Giving us an elaborate tour of the store and their new products, they told us that their four new collections are called the Pantywall (literally what it sounds like — panties on a wall), Active Range, Swim Collection and Sleep.

They all boast of new designs, some which are interesting if you think about the existence of a high-rise hipster thong (no pictures, sorry, go to the store and check it out yourselves). The Active Range is sportswear, also mostly with high-rise stuff now, almost akin to a girdle to keep them 'problem areas' (aka flab) in check.

They also have tummy-control swimsuits, a one-piece halter, and three different types of sports bras depending on the intensity of your workout.

In addition to the sports, brief, and bikini collection, their bedroom collection has also expanded, with two new colours (maroon and dark orchid) and new materials into the mix. In addition to the silky bed-wear they already had, they've now introduced cotton chemises as well.

I guess this would be pretty comfy on a warm night.

amanté has some pretty good stuff. A tad on the pricey side I'd say, but these are branded items and I assume, would last quite a while. It's also one of the few places you can find good lingerie — unless you're okay with buying underwear off obscure Chinese brands, which are available in most clothing stores. In which case, that's fine.

But if not, you can check this stuff out. They start at around Rs. 1,500 and above though, so save up a bit if you want to buy a few.

Reid Avenue (Philip Gunawardena Mw) is basically the extension of Maitland Crescent. You can get there by turning right on Independence Avenue past the Museum and then right again, or by getting on Maitland Crescent from Horton Place, Gregory's, etc. If you're walking it's accessible from Independence Square. The Amante boutique is in the same building as KFC.
