Anilana is one of Pasikuda's big beachside hotels. They've got killer ambience late in the evening, and they do a very good Jaffna crab curry.

Where can I begin!

Went to Anilana Pasikuda from December 21st to December 23rd 2018, with friends and we booked 2 rooms.

From the start this hotel was a disaster. We checked into rooms 116 and 117 initially. My friend was assigned room 116. When we went inside the room, the loft area smelt of mold. Since my friend has kids, this wasn't a good room for them to stay in. When we complained to the front desk, the front desk attendant Farhan had the nerve to tell us that he will use an Air freshener and a fan inside the loft area to get rid of the smell. Can you believe this? Proper action would have been to apologize and to assign a new room. After we complained to the manager on duty Keerthi Alwis, he assigned my friend room 118.

We thought this would be the end of our issues and we could at least have somewhat of a peaceful stay. But how wrong were we!

The food was very bad, especially the Sri Lankan food. Come on, after all this is a hotel in Sri Lanka and they should have been able to even make the Sri Lankan food some what appetizing! The western food was OK but I am sure the non Sri Lankans who go there would like to taste some good Sri Lankan food, but don't count on it.

On the 2nd day more issues. Woke up around 9 AM or so, when the AC was not working. It was a hot day and not having an AC made things very uncomfortable to say the least. Again talked to duty manager Keerthi and he assured the AC problem would be taken care of in a few hours. Come 7 PM, still the AC not working and the room was very very uncomfortable and hot. When we asked him he admitted to us that he won't be able to fix it on the 22nd night and he was waiting for a tech to show up the following day.

At least he gave us a fan! We spoke to a few guests and they said they faced the same issue and they would be checking out early since the AC issue was a problem. Also, the ceiling fan inside room 118 broke and had to get the repair person to fix this.

The appearance of the hotel is OK but there were cob webs on wall, broken tiles up stairs and had I known that this hotel was a dump, I would not have gone there in the first place.

When you check in they charge you for the entire stay, so to get a refund I had to talk to the corporate office to get a refund. Went there to talk to someone and most were on holiday. Spoke with Amali and she got on the phone with the sales Director Denzil and the guy didn't want to talk to me.

Then I got on the phone with Shemali, the owners sister. Not sure what her title is. She told me she was on holiday and she would get back to me in 2 days. I had to drive to the corporate office a second time to meet her and they finally offered us a refund for the 2nd night but they had the audacity to charge us for the food cost and refund the rest.

Our holiday was ruined. Shemali, Denzil, the proper etiquette would have been for you to refund us the total amount as compensation for ruining our entire time at Pasikuda.

If I could I would give this hotel a 0.5 rating but I can't go lower than 1.

ANYONE WISHING TO STAY AT THE ANILANA CHAIN SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER STAYING THERE. THEY CHARGE UP FROM AND WILL GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND WHEN ASKING FOR A REFUND. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN AND ADVICE FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO NOT GO THERE AGAIN.

IT'S BEEN 5 DAYS NOW AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY 25% REFUND AFTER THE MEAL COST WAS DEDUCTED. I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN. REGARDLESS, THIS IS A BAD HOTEL AND DON'T EVEN CONSIDER THE ANILANA CHAIN AGAIN IF YOU NEED A VACATION. THEY HAVE ANOTHER HOTEL IN TRINO AND NUWARA ELIYA BUT I ADVICE PEOPLE READING THIS NOT TO GO TO ANY ANILANA HOTEL.
