Chana's has been gaining popularity for sometime now and it's easy to see why. They do a pretty good take on North Indian cuisine and their biriyani is one of the best in town.

එසේ මෙසේ නෙවෙයි..
හොඳම ඉන්ඩියන්, මැලේ, සිංගපෝර් කෑමත් එක්කම.
අපිත් ඉතින් කාලයක් තිස්සෙ මාන බල බල ඉඳල තමයි ඔතනට ගොඩවුනේ. මොකද.. කොච්චර ආස වුණත් හැමදාම ඉන්දියන් කෑම කන්න බෑනේ.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, එදා නම් රෙස්ටුරන්ට් එකට ගොඩවෙද්දිම.. බිරියානි සුවඳ එනවා.. රස නහර පිනා යන්න. ඒ විතරක් නම් බැරියැ, සේවක අංකල්ගෙ හිනාවයි, පිළිගැනීමයි! ෂැහ්, ඒකමයි දෙන්න මෙනුව නොබලාම ඕඩර් කලේ..
‘හයිඩ්‍රාබාද් තන්දුරි චිකන් බිරියානි එකයි (රු. 750), චානාස් ස්පෙෂල් මට්න් එකයි (රු. 1050) , ගාලික් චීස් නාන් 2යි (රු. 550). ඩෙසට් එකට ධායි පූරි එකයි (රු. 325).’
ඕඩර් කරල ඉතින් වොෂ්රූම් පැත්තෙ එහෙමත් ගිහිල්ල ඇවිල්ලා.. ගමනෙ මහන්සිය යන්න කියල, සුවපහසු සෙටියෙ ඇල වුණා විතරයි..
විනාඩි 10ක් යන්න ඇති යාළු උපරිම. මේං අංකල් එනව, බරට බරේ, ට්‍රේ දෙකකුත් අරගෙන.
“අනේ සොරි මිස්. මිස්ල කිව්ව නම් මම ටිකක් පරක්කු කරල කෑම ටික ගේනවනෙ. ම්.. කොහේ හරි දුරක ඉඳන් එන ගමන්වත්ද..? නැත්නම්?”
“අනේ නෑ නෑ. අපි මේ පොඩි ෂොපින්ග් පාරක් ගියා. අව්වනෙ අංකල් හරියට. ඉතින් මහන්සියටමයි පොඩ්ඩක්..”
“අනේ එහෙමද.. සර්ලට බොන්න මොනවහරි ගේන්නද ඒනං?”
“එපා එපා. කූල් වතුර එකක් හොඳටම ඇති අංකල්. අනේ තැන්ක්යූ හොඳේ”
මිත්‍රශීලි බවේ උපරිමය. හැරත් ඒ සුහද සේවාව.. තරු නෑ දෙන්න ඉතින් එයාට.
ම්.. තප්පර ගානක කල්පනාවෙන් පස්සෙ අපි ගත්ත පිඟන් දෙක ළඟට. අරගෙන.. දාගත්ත හැම එකෙන්ම ටික ටික.
එපමණයි.. කෑවා නෙවෙයි පිඟන් හෝදල පැත්තකින් තිබ්බ වගේ.
ඇයි යාළු ඒ බිරියානියෙ රස! කියල වැඩක් නෑ හොඳේ. තන්දුරි, මසාලා මික්ස් කරපු.. මිරිස් තුනපහෙන් අඩු නැතිව හදපු බිරියානි මික්ස් එක, බාස්මති හාලෙ බතට ගලපල තියෙනවා.. වැඩිය ඕන නෑ, ඒකටම ආපු මිරිස් හොදි ටිකක් දාගත්තාම ඇති තලු මරමර රස බලන්න. මොකද හොද්දත් තුනපහ අඩුම කුඩුම වලින් අනූන වෙන්න හදලනෙ. අනිත් කාරණය තමයි ඒ තන්දුරි චිකන් පලුව. ටොප් ඈ.. මල් හතයි. කිව්වට විශ්වාස කරන්න යාළු.. ඒකෙ තන්දුරි රසට යටින් එන ලා කර රසත් එක්ක, මස ඇතුලත් නියමම පදමට තැමිබ්ලා… කෑල්ලක් ඇති ඉතින් බිරියානි කටවල් දෙක තුනකට රස තියෙන්න.
ඊට පස්සෙ ගාලික්, චීස්..
සාමාන්‍යයෙන් නම් ඔය ගොඩක් තැන්වල චීස් නාන් කිව්වට ඒවයෙ චීස් තියෙන්නෙ අවාරෙට පොල් වගේනෙ. හැබැයි මේකෙ එහෙම නෑ, අඟලෙන් දෙකෙන් චීස් පොඩි පොඩි කෑලි. ඊටත් ඒ අතරට සුදුළූනුත් අඩු නැතුව. නාන් එකේ ඝනකමත් අඩු නිසා.. කරගතියත් එක්ක මට්න් හොදි ටිකක් ගෑවුනාම ඇති යාලු, රම්පෙට පොරි වගේ…
අනික මට්න් එකෙත් රස? මං කියන්නෙ ඒක නම් ස්පෙෂල්ම, ස්පෙෂල් තමයි. මොකද.. මසාලා, තුනපහ අඩුම කුඩුම මදි නොකියන්න දාලා, හොද්දට බටර් ටිකක් එහෙමත් හොඳහැටි දාලා, ඝනකමත් තියෙන්න…
වැඩක් නෑ ඉතින් ඈ.. හිතන්නකො ඒ වගේ පදමක් මට්න් කෑලි වලටත් අල්ලල තියෙද්දි.
කොහොමහරි බඩකට උල් වෙන ගානට ඒ ටික කාලා අන්තිමට ධායි පූරි එකත්.. චුට්ටක්වත් ඉතිරි නොවෙන්න දෙසාබෑවා කිව්වොත් කොහොමද?
ආං එහෙම තමයි අපි.
ඇත්තටම ඒකෙ රස මොන මොනව එක්ක හැදිලද කියන එක ගැන නම් හරි අයිඩියා එකක් නෑ. කොහොමහරි ටක්කෙටම කිව්වහැකි ෆ්‍රෙෂ් මීකිරි, මින්චි යුෂ වගේ, කොත්තමල්ලි ඇට, පැණි සියඹලාත් දාලාද කොහෙද.. තව ඉන්දියන් රස කාරක අඩුපාඩු ටිකකුත් ගලපලා.. හදල තියෙනව,
කටට එක ගානෙ, කටට එක ගාණෙ කනකොට ‘ෂෑහ්..’ කියවෙන්න තරම්.
ඒ අතරට ඕං අපේ එක්කෙනා මසාලා චායි (රු. 145) කියල අර ඉන්ඩියින් ටී එක. අන්න ඒකකුත් ගෙන්න ගත්ත.
ඇත්තටම වචන නෑ ඉතින් කියන්න, ඒකත් නොම්මර එකයි. එක උගුරයි. එනසාල්, කරාබුනැටි අඩුම කුඩුම රස එක්ක තොලකට පිනා යයි!

සිංහල ඒ තන්දුරි චිකන් පලුව. ටොප් ඈ.. මල් හතයි. කිව්වට විශ්වාස කරන්න යාළු.. ඒකෙ තන්දුරි රසට යටින් එන ලා කර රසත් එක්ක, මස ඇතුලත් නියමම පදමට තැමිබ්ලා… කෑල්ලක් ඇති ඉතින් බිරියානි කටවල් දෙක තුනකට රස තියෙන්න.
සිංහල ආයේ කතා දෙකක් නෑ ඉතින්, මෙතුවක් කාලෙකට කඩේකින් කාලා තියෙන හොඳ ම බිරියානි එක තමයි මේ!

Ordered a prawn biriyani with accompaniments. small pot@ 3500… It was utterly disappointing. The biriyani had a total of 4 prawns the rest were a few pieces of potato and prawn heads!… These guys are frauds and their peas and cashew curry is some watery tasteless curry with carrots and NOT at all what one would expect. I cannot believe they charge 3500 for this crap NEVER again!!!! Some rated them as good????????????? whoever it is hasn't tasted biriyani!!!!!!!!!!!! Their chutney, even their raita is NOT at all taste and some man has the audacity to call and tell me this is hyderabadi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…. what a laugh!

How this biriyani managed to get the "best biriyani in town" title is beyond me. The dish was colder than a dead penguin on a glacier and I've seen sugar candy with more spice than this. Utter waste of money and never going back

I called them for delivery and the guy who picked up the phone was a b****……he wouldn't stop yelling at me to tell him the address when I told him multiple times and told me to stop calling them…worst restaurant I have ever called

I ordered at 11.15 am and they didn't even mention there might be a delay or anything and by 1.15 pm even it wasn't delivered.
So had to wait more than 2 hours to get food. Worst delivery service I have experienced in the whole of colombo
I went there ordered Dhai Puri, Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji & Masala Tea. They took long to serve food. Bhel Puri had too much tamarind which tasted really bad. The Pav Bhaji buns were moldy, and tasted horrible at the first bite. I immediately returned the stuff and informed the guy about the rotten buns. He tried to convince me that it was dark colored as it was toasted. After I made him taste the bun, they accepted and did not bill for that dish. Masala tea arrived after a long time & my evening was ruined. Not happy with this place.
Average food, Average place, below par service. Tried the Biriyani (Large) for 540 and highly disappointed. Also had the Pani Puri which was another disappointment. Place was empty at around 2.00 pm so got the orders quickly. That was the only good part other than not so bad black coffee.
I placed an order for Chana's Special Shawarma. and order arrived at sharp time hot hot.Yummyyyyyy. without any hesitation and mainly without a single phone call i got it delivered to doorstep. it's simply Outstanding experience.Thanks. Chana's & Lets-eat Team.
i don't know if Chanas has improved, but i went there after you guys gave them top position in your Biryani Tasteoff, and the first time i was told i'd have to wait an hour for the biryani (7pm on a weekday, i was the only customer). i left but went back another day, and they don't have mutton, just chicken. i had it and it was mediocre. i hope they've upped their game, 'cos if not, i've no idea why Yamu keeps praising them.
