If you're working around Slave Island or Fort, Curry Much does a decent buth packet with better packaging.
Currymuch on Braybrooke Street is a very cosy place to sit and eat your daily dose of buth. The prices haven't changed and the quality of the food has not wavered.
The location is right down Braybrooke Street before turning to Muttiah Road. It gets very crowded during the lunch rush with all the office crowd bustling in, so unless you're planning on getting take out we suggest you go a bit early.
It turns out we went a little too early (around 11 AM), because they were still preparing the food so most of the lunch options weren't available at that moment. They usually have fried rice, rice and curry and garlic rice. You get your own choice of curries.
The Red Rice with Egg (Rs. 230) was a big portion of rice with devilled soya, dhal curry, dhel curry, gotukola mallun and a brinjal curry. The soya and dhel especially were delicious and spicy. The soya was a bit overcooked but I prefer it that way. The rest of the curries could have been spicier.
We also tried the Garlic Rice with Prawns (Rs. 270) which was a much better choice. The prawn curry was such a delight. The gravy was very milky and spicy and I would have just eaten it on its own. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the texture was soft enough that it's easy to bite into. The fried bitter gourd was my favourite. I love a good bitterness to spike the flavours of a rice and curry. The garlic rice was more of a fried white rice and didn't really have the strong garlic flavour you would expect.
We also got two Narang Juices (Rs. 100 each) and they were quite flavorful with enough tang and sweetness.
Their service is efficient as it can possibly be considering the number of customers they get. There were about 4 people handling the food and service and they're all very friendly and accommodating.
The place has gotten a lot better with the new interior. The funny quotes along with the wooden tables and stools are a great addition to something that was once just a normal street joint.
Although the food has not dramatically changed in terms of quality, the ambience has. It has actually brightened up the place so that anyone who wants to sit and eat can do so now. If you're working around the area, Currymuch does a decent lunch for a reasonable price.
New and improved Currymuch serving a decent rice pack with a killer prawn curry.

Currymuch isn't really your average kade. Bright, clean and manned by excellent, friendly staff, CM offers the healthier, feel-good alternative to the average buth packet. Serving a rotation of rice-based lunches (different meals on different days, only one of which is available per day), you can pop into to the little store on Staple St to procure a box of rice for just Rs. 200

The food is wonderful, lime and mind juice, chicken wrap, coriander rice… to name a few. They are worth the money and the people are also very friendly
Love the concept as *serves halaal food*… Thank you admins… this is highly appreciated… Keep up the good work
Since I workplace is closer to this joint and was need of a buth packet today decided to check it out, yes indeed a posh looking buth kada, came back to office, had it, indeed a unique taste compared to the usual lunch packets, not bad at all, but for Rs 200 felt they could have added in one more curry item or made the chicken piece bigger. Missed the pappadam and chillie which accompanies the usual lunch packets, dine mor lunch packets are a good deal too, they are in the 200 range If i remember correctly
best place is to eat sri lankan food is maharagama Nelum kolle. You can eat wat you like. Not wat they serve you. One of the best. Better you try.
"The curries to rice ratio is balanced," - the next index following the maalu to paan ratio?
Why can't we all be united as 1 nation… Sri Lankans!! i greatly appreciate knowing that 'Currymuch' serves halal food as read by a previous comment… but yet wen i scrolled down, i read another comment that said "No halal food"… do v seriously need this racism?? can't we live united respecting other religious views??
I am disappointing, a beautiful packing but the content is not satisfying. for 200 there should be 2 more vegies. we tried all three varieties.
No need halal?well then dont use petrol n recall ur ladies whom ur al sent to gulf countries to wipe our ass.then will see whrs "this is srilanka"u monkey face.
Sorry to say this but the food here is nothing special and in my opinion does not merit the 5 stars. Its disappointing that the one place that truly deserves a 5 star rating as the best rice and curry joint in the country is not even listed here. Priyamali Gedera in Jayanthipura near Polonnaruwa has rice and curry that is a religious experience. A farmer and his wife and two daughters make the most mind blowing traditional village dishes that will make you realize the range of real Sri Lankan cuisine.
Far too much peppier in the lunch. Yes we like spicy food BUT this is "peppery hot@. Should rename place Pepoermuch.
In this area a lunch packet named 'Bojun' can be found among lunch packet sellers(dimo battas), Fish is around Rs-110. Well worth for that price and feel like a home made lunch packet.
Also avoid buying lunch packets named as Damith meal center from same sellers as once I found a spider(gammiris ataya) and another day found some plastics in it. really bad shit. Me an friends throw those lunch packets away. We should have called the authorities to seize the place(Damith Meal Center in Pamankada).
i hv bn a regular customer in currymuch since i read yamu's article regarding this place! but to be honest this place getting suck now! earlier they served good food that worth to money, but now i can see a huge difference than early! feels like they are just looking for profit! not the quality of food!
(don't ever buy their fruit sald, trust me)
I have been ordering lunch from Curry Much thorugh Order Foods for the past few days.
